Bollocks to the power of infinity. Even his own side acknowledged that his 83 manifesto was absolutely dire.

Disraeli and Pitt the Younger were the greatest ever.

The best prime minister who never was was Ian MacLeod.

I LOVE it when NSC discusses Pitt The Younger. Makes it a Board Apart. That and name-checking Pliny The Elder. Obviously

although the pedants amongst us would point out that the phrase 'Prime Minister was not in usage until sometime around the turn of the 20th century and they were known as First Lord of the Admiralty and something about the Treasury, but I can't remember.

....and as an aside to namechecking Pliny - Socrates was killed for the charge of corrupting the young and for the downfall of society so it was all his fault.

Can I point out that you've missed one or two off that list?

Well, none too bright that Socrates, by all accounts:

"Plato's dialogues portray Socrates as a teacher who denies having disciples, as a man of reason who obeys a divine voice in his head, and a pious man who is executed for the state's own expediency. He is often held to be the founder of Western philosophy, and its most influential practitioner.

The trial and execution of Socrates was the climax of his career and the central event of the dialogues of Plato. According to Plato, both were unnecessary. Socrates admits in court that he could have avoided the trial by abandoning philosophy and going home to mind his own business. After his conviction, he could have avoided the death penalty by escaping with the help of his friends. "

Daft bugger :dunce:

currie in 95 , wiped the spunk off her chin

*shudder* - and all this after he spouted bollocks about back to basics and family values. Currie was also famous for telling British businessmen to take their wives with them abroad to stop them from being tempted to stray.

Hypocritical shits - both of 'em.

Alan Clark would ahve been interesting as PM you know. Would have been like having Terry Thomas.

I heard Neil Kinnock speak on Monday, hasn't changed a bit.

Why use one sentence when a whole hour will do...
