Is there a transport problem ? I didn't know that. Since 2011, I have cycled to virtually every game from the outskirts of town and been back there before the buses and trains (and before anyone starts. on, I'm 75 now !)
Have you caught up on the thread about cycles being stolen from the Amex? Even well secured ones?

Because it doesn't change to the amount of people using the train.
Council has never given a flying f*** about anything related to the Albion.
Just to be pedantic they weren't stolen from the Amex but from Sussex Uni campus and from the railings by the bus stops on the A27. Still a shit thing to happen but didn't happen at the Amex.

The thing about the Goldstone was that people dispersed in all directions. From Falmer, unless you live in Moulsecoomb or Coldean, you're waiting in long queues for buses or trains or sitting in your car for ages trying to get out of the University or Bridge car parks. And, apart from the obvious solution of the monorail, very little can be done to overcome this basic stumbling block.

We should build a pub by the station so that people will disperse slowly on their journey home.
I imagine quite a few at the Goldstone just walked home as the crowd was more likely to be local and live within a mile or 3.

Not true - when we got to the cup final, promoted to the PL and into Europe...they were all over us until at least all the media died down!
Would do great trade as 2 universities right there as well as football crowds.

What if there was an app and additional turnstyles that would only allow you to enter the train boarding area at an allotted time.

Whoever designed the A23 / A27 interchange wasn't very forward thinking. It was almost unfit for purpose the day after it opened never mind growth in traffic in 30 years since.
Also, the top of Mill Road is a nightmare for returning buses and supporters using the P&R. It can take 45mins to exit because traffic coming off the A27 onto the roundabout about is doing so at speed, and frequently. Which we must give right to obviously. Stick a set of light on so 15-20 vehicles from the P&R can exit at any one time!
Again, some proper policing or lights re-set for the hour or so either side of match would kill this problem just as it would on Village Way. But nobody cares or is interested. We just have too put up with therefore, but it's all utterly solvable if someone gave a ****
It's well beyond time to take a chunk out of the SDNP and tarmac it to ease the pressures and not just on match days. The sanctimony of protecting this green space without challenge is ridiculous and I just don't buy any of the 'well, it's the thin end of the wedge if you do that' arguments. Reminds me of the NIMBY ones against the stadium e.g. "the ducks, the ducks, but what about the DUCKS....?" Well, feck 'em, the Seagulls were more important. Next stupid question?!

I'm sure there are some on here who were at the Chelea (67) Wolves (69) Reading (70) Rochdale (72) .....
