John Mellencamp, with the full band- At a press promotional gig, in a small nightclub in Munich a few years ago. Thanks to the fan club for letting me know and getting me a pass to get in.
****ing brilliant.

In Brighton it has to be right down the front for Bruce and the E Street Band at the Centre

London, New Model Army on the night I finally got a job after a year unemployed/student. (This blokes got a suit in 'ere-Steward on checking my bag)

Also Tom Petty (with Stevie Nicks) and the Fabulous Thunderbirds as support, San Fran Cow Palace, 81.

and finally Mick Thomas (Weddings, Parties, Anything) at a private party on a boat in Norfolk

I was at that gig, just shortly before they split up. Sparks came on for the encore to do 'This Town Ain't Big Enough For The Both Of Us'. Best gig I've ever been to.

You got it, awesome, especially when they did "Just a Man" the lights, the atmosphere, superb sound.

Supewife definatly rates that as her best ever gig, ever!

Jam, Crawley Leisure Centre played about 30 mins max full skinhead mass riot, centre surrounded with police in riot gear etc as can imagine fans well pissed having bn ripped off with short gig but until then ranks better than Meatloaf and Bob Marley @ Btn Centre

Manics at Btn Centre few yrs back were good too!

Wow FG has some taste!!!!

Best gig by far for me was the Manics at Brixton in 2001 on the Know Your Enemy Tour!

The Vines in hove a few weeks back was great as well

Now that is one I am jealous of, Queen were the best live act going!! Even if you didn't like em!!!!

They were very good at the Hyde Park freebie in the 70's, even though I didn't want to buy their albums particularly.

Some excellent gigs are surprises, when you don't really expect much but go out of 'passing interest'. Dr John at the Dome was mesmerisingly good. Shriekback at the Beverly Theatre in LA, Eddie and The Hot Rods at the Nashville, Dr Feelgood at the Greyhound in Richmond. Cockney Rebel were great at Reading, second on the bill. Saw Bowie second billing to The Groundhogs. One of ELO's first gigs, at the Dome (only about 25 people there, but they played anyway).

Higher profile, but Led Zep were good, showcasing 'IV' at the Dome. Wishbone Ash, King Crimson, Rory Gallagher and Pink Floyd also excellent in the early 70's. Magazine at The Lyceum, Joy Division at the Electric, Catherine Wheel at Slim's in S.F.
Talking Heads at the US Festival San Bernardino, Buddy Guy at the Wilshire El Rey Theatre.

One of these days I'll go through all those tickets in my drawer, but usually too busy living to do any re-living. Live music rules though

Gullet - we must have a lot in common.

We both appreciate Big Country.

Specials - was that the gig when it kept "kicking off" and being halted.

Prince - First ever gig in the UK ?
