Walk on By - The Stranglers - Keyboard/Guitar instrumental in the middle , lasting about 3 minutes

Down in the Sewer - The Stranglers - Keyboard genious at the end - The greatest ever rock keyboardist, Dave Greenfield with a virtuosa display of keyboard wizzardry

Year of the Cat - Al Stewart - stunning guitar/sax in the middle

November Rain - Guns N Roses / Slash - stunning double guitar solo in the middle, beautiful

The democratic and free EU
Jools Holland's piano solo on the end of the album version of Uncertain Smile by The The takes a lot of beating.

Many of the Wedding Present's guitar parts run it close though, in particular the last few minutes of the 12" version of This Boy Can Wait.

Or the last few minutes of both Angel and Group 4 off Massive Attack's Mezzanine.

Good call. And of course Dave Greenfield the Stranglers keyboard maestro came from Brighton. Forget the Sex Pistols the Stranglers were the greatest Punk band.

For what its worth my other fave instrumentals

Flying in A Blue Dream- Joe Satriani
For the Love of God - Steve Vai
Answers- Steve Vai
Far Beyond the Sun- Yngwie Malmsteen
Blackstar - Yngwie Malmsteen
Weis Heim- Rainbow (Ritchie Blackmore)
88- Level 42
Transylvania- Iron Maiden
The Ides of March- Iron Maiden
