I saw Sonia Christina with Curved Air at the Dome in the early 70s. Stuart Copeland on drums.

She was absolutely embarrassing. It was shocking. Laughable.

Still, it was heartwarming to see her gain a modicum of respectability, later in life, as frequent guest on the Clive James show:

Sandy Denny, by a country mile.

Good choice. Her version of Bruton Town is superb. Also, from Fairport Convention’s Unhalfbricking album ‘The Sailor’s Life, and from Fotheringay’s ‘The Bank of the Nile’. Sandy, a troubled soul taken far too young.

When I was a teenager, I think around 1974, I had a Curved Air poster on my bedroom wall, with pic of Sonia Cristina. At the bottom of the poster it said in large letters

I never did work out what that was about....

She was quite fetching, especially from the third row at the Dome.
Unfortunately, though, I was so close I could hear her 'sing'.
