Both of mine have been done. Papa Lazarou beat me to the Atari and Braggfan got the AT-AT. Here's a nice picture of the latter though.

Sadly I never got Star Wars toys, which would be worth a fortune nowadays

Between us three boys we had tonnes of the stuff. It’s worth a fortune. Unfortunately my lazy arse mum and stepdad couldn’t be bothered to get them down for the loft when they moved house. We never had a chance to save them and we were all away in boarding school.
I have forgiven my Mum, because she was my Mum but have genuinely never fully forgiven my Stepdad.

Back in Sussex
Race & Chase was one I remember fondly.

It was a Matchbox version of Scalextric but included a couple of interesting features - there was a ramp that cars could go over, get a bit of airtime and, hopefully, land back in their slot and continue. More interestingly, cars could change direction.

Another thing that was utterly amazing, for me at least, was Big Trak which I had in the very early 1980s. This is a TV advert from the time which I could still recall perfectly:

My brother and I got a snooker table which my mum must have been up all night building so it was ready when we came down in the morning. It was amazing, got so many hours of fun out of it.

2 best christmas presents - 5 speed raleigh racer bike - sitting all shiny in the living room for me, enabled me to get out of the village on my own.
Acorn Atom, forerunner to the BBC micro, had 1K RAM and a cassette player. My Dad bought the kit and soldered all the chips in after I had gone to bed, unfortunately he couldnt get it to work and had to swap it for a ready built one. Learned to program from typing in games from magazines- its now my job. Also had its own TV, which meant I finally got my first TV of my own.

Hardly top of the range, but recall getting this exact model and playing for hours.

I did not use it to record the Top 40 off of the radio, nor did I tape my friends' 45s rather than buy them.

Early fifties I had a plastic machine gun for Christmas that worked by triggering a friction motor. I was over the moon until the afternoon when my mate in the flat downstairs got one that worked with batteries. Gone were the days of an orange and a bar of Fry’s chocolate.

For me it's a small orange transistor radio that still has pride of place.

Many nights of listening under the covers to Peter Jones and co on European nights. Early mornings to Test matches in foreign lands.

I think I was given it circa 1977.
