I looked at the front page and went straight toward the pornography thread, besweated in deep worry. Only out of the corner of my wanky eye did i spot this.
Excellent news. Glad he's glad enough to be with us more.

Now, what's this about no spanking!?!?!

I have never ever managed to attain a '' wanky eye '' Never been able to generate enough power in my shots

Absolutely brilliant news, the player we really have to hold on to, now if anyone wants to try to wrest him from us they will have to pay for the privilege and at a premium. Now for the rest of the contract ending players, we needed good news after the abrupt departure of C.C. and this certainly is very very good news.

The cynic in me is wondering whether he has just found out that his injury is much more serious than we think, in which case a two and a half year deal represents very good work by his agent!

Let's hope I am wrong, in which case it is great news - and f*** off Calderwood, you're not taking him with you (or in the very worst case scenario, he'll now cost £5M more than he would have done yesterday!)
The Argus quoted CH as saying that his recuperation was going well, and he should be challenging for a first team spot soon.

Probably going to get resoundingly flamed for this, but am I the only one that reacts with a m-eh when I hear of players signing a new contract?

Yeah sure, it means they intend to stay with us, and if we do sell the player it helps to get a big fee, but let's be honest, if the right bid comes in, or a player really does want to leave, the contract is hardly worth the paper it's written on.

I kinda get what you mean and I still have lingering thoughts about players leaving in the back of my mind when the club announces deals like this –*but that's part of the game now. However, presumably this contract has some PL clause in it, which means when he's back with us, Kayal will be working harder than any of them to get the team over the line (possibly). Had he NOT signed a new contract he might not put in the same amount of effort – possibly, again

The contract means we would get money , maybe 8 million, which we would not have got if he had remained out of contract. So hardly a 'm-eh' financially and a demonstration of commitment.

At 3:38 into Beram's interview before the Burton match he hinted news about his contract situation was on the way...

I knew at that point that the news would be good ( otherwise it wouldn't have been broadcast. )
