I may have been wrong with that, this can happen though occasionally if there is contact with the agent, you can at least decifer whether you're on the same page. Bit naughty (tapping up?) but it definitely happens.

As [MENTION=3566]hans kraay fan club[/MENTION] says in the VVD case we did have a bid accepted. However you can have permission from a club to speak to a player about a move before a fee is agreed. See the Jadon Sancho talks with Manchester United earlier this summer. Man Utd had permission to approach from Dortmund and the player agrees a deal but the transfer doesn't go through as the two clubs couldn't agree a transfer fee.

Yes I think this part of the problem. We’re all having fun with the way they’re carrying on, but all their local press has this angle. This is guy is a prime offender. Has anything he’s said on this saga been true? According to Phil Kay this deal was going to happen...

One suspects, and I don’t wish to be unkind, but he is enjoying this attention from the Leeds fans, with tweets, questions, podcast appearances and no doubt articles like this are fantastic click bait for him, and that’s his job. What else can he talk about frankly?

The story should be dead now. It’ll be interesting how they’ll spin things when Ben does sign a new deal. Because that IS going to happen.

To state the obvious - leeds were a division below so it was much easier to ‘give him a chance’. In fact that was exactly the purpose of the loan that Brighton arranged.

That last paragraph is fantastically rambling and contradicts itself. We haven't been able to extend his contract or raise his salary but the figures put to him have been accepted. Well it can't be both can it. The commitment is already there, he signed a new deal before he went to Leeds and we've got at least 2 years (possibly 3 if reports are correct) left on that deal at the moment. Ben knows the club are not interested in selling him, and he's been around the club long enough to know that Tony Bloom doesn't change his mind, so he can either stay on the deal he currently has or take the new one which is likely to triple or quadruple his wages.

It's also entirely possible that Ben is quite happy to stay with us and force his way into our Premier League team, but at the same time be open to a move to Leeds if we were to accept a bid from them. The two positions do not have to be mutually exclusive.
