Here's what I think (hope) happens with Leeds.

Bielsa isn't backed sufficiently throws his toys out the pram and leaves in the close season.

The only teams in the last 3 years that have finished top half with under 40 goals scored is Burnley and Newcastle in 2017/18 and Sheff Utd this season (assuming they don't ship 5 in their final 2 matches).

Therefore, we either have to score more than we've ever done or concede one fewer every two games. Now none of Burnley, Sheff Utd or Newcastle are renouned for playing it out from the back like us, whereas they do possess the more physically robust enforcers in midfield, so I'd say our chances of conceding less than a goal a game under Potter are slim. Progress up the table is more likely by a combination of finding another 10 goals while conceding a few less; this takes you into Wolves territory.

It's because we are clueless and can't spot talent. Obviously teams never loan players out with a view to their development. It is always because they don't rate them.

I used to dislike Leeds fans anyway but the behaviour of a lot of them on social media over lockdown and about White has been appalling.

Who would have thought that Yorkshire people could be so arrogant?

Unfortunately he only has 2 years left on his contract, and once that gets down to a year you run the risk of his agent proposing he runs it down to nothing, and picking up a huge singing on fee with one of the top 6.

Look at Ryan Fraser and Bournemouth, that is what can happen.

Now is the time to renegotiate and tie him down to new 4 year contract. and if he doesn't want to? then we have to sell him now or risk getting cattle trucked by the big boys.

If he doesn't want to sign the deal offered then he remains our player, but at a fraction of the wage that he'll earn if he does sign. We can have him in the squad for this season and he'll still have plenty of value in next summer's transfer window.

I can't see him going on strike over it. Apart from the fact that he seems like an honest pro, it'd be a terrible career move.

Almost definitely earned himself a new improved contract with us and if he knows that a move is not forthcoming he should be keen to sign, also if a top 6 club came in for him he wouldn’t wait to run his contract down. He is our player and we hold the cards.

Unless, of course, Dunk finally gets his big money move.

That's the unknown.

Dunk would improve the central defence of Spurs, Arsenal or Chelsea , and we wouldn't stop him going there if a suitable offer comes in. Lewis would (I expect) more than double his wages.

IF that happens, White stays with us beyond doubt.

If you were White's agent, you'd be holding fire to see if other offers do come in which could help in any Albion contract negotiations. Look at Dunk, he's had a few new contracts since we've been in PL, no doubt secured on the back of good performances, interest from others and the international call up.

I imagine Bloom will sit him down, offer him a new contract and say:

1. We're very happy with your development over the past seasons at Newport (League 2), Peterborough (League 1) and Leeds United (Championship)
2. Now we believe you're ready to operate in the first-team squad, here's an improved contract that reflects that, congratulations!
3. Of course, we won't stand in your way if an established top 6 side comes in for you with a fair offer.

4. My business is managing risk, yours is too ie career savaging injuries are all too common.. Get on a good long term contract asap.

There’s a few of you here with this viewpoint and I still don’t understand it.

A shrewd move? It’d be the opposite.

1) why do you think we need the money? Are we leaving the Premier League?

2) why accept £30m when his value could potentially double? (Given interest from so many clubs and even being hinted as a call up by Southgate)

3) why on EARTH would we want to strengthen a relegation rival?

4) what’s the point spending years developing your own talent but to sell before you even play them?

1) I didn’t say we need the money. It’s not about needing the money. Man City don’t need the money but every one of their players still has a price they’d sell at. As an aside, we don’t know that we DON’T need the money though as every club will have suffered to varying degrees in the last six months.

2) Potential doesn’t pay the bills or allow us to invest in other players. You can argue that his value could just as easily halve.

3) I didn’t say anything about selling to Leeds. In fact I said specifically not Leeds.

4) Because if the proceeds allow you to sign other players you wouldn’t have otherwise afforded, the youth system has delivered the same ROI as playing the youth product himself.

Fair enough, I still don’t see it though. Unless it was an insane offer £40-50m. I just think it’d be madness to sell Ben White now, from a business perspective. I mean we paid £22m for Webster.

Young English players are a premium.

Anyway all moot hopefully as Ashworth, Tony and now GP are all very clear that it’s always been the plan for Ben to come back and join the group.

In any case, short of Ben throwing a wobbly I don’t see any scenario where Leeds have him next season.

Agree. Offer him a four year contract now and if he doesn't sign then sell to the highest bidder at the end of the 2020/21 season. Doubt that would be Leeds even in that scenario and doubt whether his agent will risk him not signing and having this season on c £15k Per week.
So expect that he will sign but with a release clause of say £50m to a team that has qualified for the Champions League.

Considering how well Webster has done since lockdown, I am not sure where there is a place for White. But, considering how Burn, Bissouma, Propper, Mooy, Mac Allister and Trossard all seem to be played out of position, Potter may well put White up front! [emoji3]
