Yeah, I don't get all this howling from NSC over this. Leeds seem to be being pretty sensible over it. Admitted it was a long shot to start, tried a few bids and will move on it seems. What is wrong with that? Both clubs seem to have been fine over it. I do not get why people on here are so upset with them!?

nobody is, its silly season and Leeds have become a parody of themselves. Their fans are totally deluded and its hilarious.
I'm sure being serious and a grown up adult for a second, that White does also like Newport stuff. The clue was in the ironic description, people here are generally having a laugh at the expense of the divots from Leeds. None of it is in our control, its all shits and giggles.

I would think it was laughing for a few days, but after a TWO HUGE threads and constant talk of it on here to the point it has consumed the board really is a sign that people here are annoyed/upset about it and can't stop talking about it. Even though there is actually really pretty much nothing to talk about.

I think people are bored. Not much else happening on NSC / football.

The Leeds fans I know don't seem to be obsessed about it. If it happens it happens, and they would, obviously love him to move there. But that is it.

Of course youre right, most aren't paying much attention and their is naff all anybody can do to control which way any of it goes. There's plenty of normal Leeds fan, I work with one, but there are an inordinate amount of entitled, deluded and utterly ridiculous idiots associated with them who have been posting a lot of made up fantasy, whilst sneering and trying to project themselves differently to the way others see them.
The actual end destination of Ben White isnt the thing, who knows how it ends? what can anyone do, the journey and some of the ridiculous mutterings and downright bullshit from their fans is pure comedy. Its all a silly game!

Nothing else going on and it’s more fun than your favourite sandwich thread or other such off season drivel.

...and yet despite this you don't have a 30k season ticket waiting list. Funny that, wonder why

Are you seriously bragging about having a 30,000 strong waiting list THE SEASON YOU GOT PROMOTED TO THE PREMIER LEAGUE?

What was it two years ago?

You seem to think you're floating above the board somehow, in some advanced deity position, sagely watching on as you watch everyone below tear themselves apart over BW.

Nobody here is annoyed or upset. Its just fun to take the piss out of the numerous flatcap fantacist entitled DIMBOTS on here. Thats all it is.

I saw that haha and they said it would be great for him to experience a big club under somebody like Bielsa

They are by far the most deranged supporters I have come across

This is where Bournemouth went wrong last season. They should have loaned Smug Eddie to The Leeds United, where he could have learned Everything There Is To Know About Management, and then come back to the south coast, leading AFC PLB to eighteen wins out of eighteen games to clinch a Champions League place.

100% this - not remotely bothered and certainly not annoyed. Very amused though. Good thread to pass the time waiting for real news

Somehow I can’t picture Smug Eddie sitting on a bucket. In fact, it’s a mental image I don’t want at all.

I wonder what these subbies get up to when we’re not watching.

It always makes me laugh when I hear that Leeds have a following around the world and Brighton (by and large) don’t.

People can’t wait to get out of the Yorkshire shithole...they pack their bags the minute they’re old enough to get on a bus on their own.

Brighton...well...it’s not a depressing sleet lashed twatfest.

I find Bielsa's contract situation with Leeds very interesting. Even if Ben White was minded to leave us for Leeds, why the hell would he do that if Bielsa is currently out of contract and could depart at any given moment?

The ONLY realistic chance Leeds have of getting White is if Bielsa has inked a new deal, guaranteeing he'll be there when the Prem starts. Even then they'd have to stump up at least another £5 million.

Every day Bielsa doesn't sign the contract weakens Leeds hand in their transfer negotiations with all parties, not just White, and with their opening match away at Liverpool in just 23 days time.

It has already been 29 days since the season ended. The likelihood is he will sign, but this is the same guy who walked out on Lazio just 2 days into the job over lack of signings. The only business Leeds have done to date is re-sign Meslier, Harrison and Helder Costa and bring in a few kids. I'd be very worried if I was a Leeds fan.

Outside of International football Bielsa has never stayed at a club longer than two years in his 30yr managerial career:

If he stays at Leeds for a third year that will be his longest club stint ever.

He's always going to absolutely love being treated like a god by the huge Leeds fan base.
It's his first ever taste of being a celebrity. What an amazing season for him.
And it's in his interest to keep the Leeds fans on side because they inflate his value from a marketing standpoint, and make up the majority of his followers on social media.

A Leeds fan recently asked me earnestly if I thought he was using them to negotiate his new contract with Brighton.
The answer is I don't know but if he's been told he's staying I suspect it doesn't hurt!

Overall he looks fairly level headed and I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do at Brighton.
Not sure about his agent though. I think this is the most attention any of his clients have had and probably sees it as a career defining moment (just a guess).

Forget Leeds fans if we can for a second (I'm not sure what their relevance is?), as said above, the truth of it is likely that he is fairly unsettled by all this. As you've said we might not feel he's ahead of Dunk or Webster, or even Burn for that matter, and yet he knows at Leeds he'd be first choice for all 38 PL games. I'm not sure you can say this has been managed exceptionally well.

White will know as well as anyone that had the club had absolute faith in him, he'd have PL appearances under his belt by now, signing Webster and sending him out at 22 years old was hardly a ringing endorsement in his ears of where we valued him last summer.

Had Potter arrived a year earlier and the way he has given youngsters a chance, I doubt we'd have loaned White out at all.

Would be interesting to know Potter's view on it as I doubt he had any say whatsoever. Potter signed on 20 May, White was a Leeds player by 01 July. So no pre-season or friendlies for Potter to have a look.

We do know Potter wanted a ball player CB and by 02 Aug we signed Webster. Hypothetically we can't know if GP had seen White properly in pre-season, whether he'd have kept him in the squad as that ball playing CB. Let's not forget we had Duffy, Dunk and Burn as CBs already, we weren't exactly weak in this position to have kept White as 4th choice at that time.

It was close to 6 weeks, but they hadn't returned to training right? White didn't even come back to B&H preseason, he was already at Leeds. I suspect that deal was done before GP had a say.

Agree, as said above GP moved quickly to keep Connolly and Alzate in the setup when they were likely both being loaned out. Only GP will be able to answer whether he was frustrated BW had been loaned out, having already rated him as you say.

That is kind of my point, why loan a 22 year old if we thought there was more to come from him, why not start playing him?

Like I've also said on numerous posts, and only my opinion, I suspect had Potter and his team been appointed earlier, BW wouldn't have gone out on loan at all.

So the players all went off on their holibobs, and basically Potter had to wait until the start of pre-season before he started running the ruler over the squad and youth set up. White was already gone before the start of pre-season. We pretty much know he looked at Alzate and Connolly and said they're not going anywhere. No meandering.

White was the first loan we agreed and he was a Leeds player by 01 July. Ostigard didn't go until 18 July, Gyökeres 25 July, Clarke 02 Aug. Supposition on my part, but think the White deal was down without GP having much of a say, otherwise you surely would have waited a few weeks into pre-season and seen a friendly or 2 and let him have a look? Or as Stat Brother says, around the week of signing his contract GP said to the club loan BW out but keep all the rest for pre-season as he wants a look at them all...

Blimey - the last thing I would have expected to see this morning on this thread was an Albion fan criticizing the club's development plan that has helped turn another club's reject schoolboy into a player worth more than £25m (without yet playing a top-flight match).:facepalm:

However, if you are trying to suggest that White should have received his Premier League debut under Chris Hughton - I absolutely agree with you. In my humble opinion it was nothing short of shameful that when Albion had only two fit and available first team centre-backs in December 2018 (Dunk and Balogun - Duffy was serving a three-match ban), Hughton didn't even have White on the bench for matches against Chelsea and Bournemouth (White should have made his PL debut against the Cherries when Dunk received his marching orders). But then - why do you think Hughton is no longer manager, and Potter is?

However, the rest of your moaning is factually incorrect. Albion started pre-season training last year on June 27. Ben White WAS at the club for a few days as he was wearing no. 28, which was subsequently taken by Aaron Connolly in Austria and then Tudor Baluta (I make a note of these things).

There is zero chance that Potter wasn't involved in the loan decisions taken last summer.

If he stays at Leeds for a third year that will be his longest club stint ever.

He is a bit of a two-year coach. The type of überdisciplinarian that is interesting and good and produces results but in the long run gets too tiresome and demanding to play for year out year in. Leeds getting promoted might perhaps compensate for that though and while I am a bit sceptical of their chances next season I doubt he will be the issue... but it will be interesting to see what happens if things look very dire for them a few months in.

And they will also probably end the season in a poor way. In his first season at Leeds they looked really tired for the last two months and the same thing was seemingly about to happen last season when the corona break came and gave them a rest.
