Here
Liverpool do need someone to play alongside Van Dijk and a player like White would probably fit the bill but not necessarily immediately so his choices could be Leeds(sell at £40m - first team football guaranteed), Liverpool (sell at £50m + and a period of transition - maybe one more season on loan to Leeds in the PL) or us (we don't sell and he slots in alongside Dunk and Webster somehow).....hmmmmmmmmmmm.

If we sold to Liverpool and they wanted to loan him out for experience, why would you assume he would go to Leeds? We could take him on loan ourselves.

Not that this will happen this summer anyway.

Leeds fans are deluding themselves but you can’t blame them, we’d be the same if our best player was on loan from them and we were about to be promoted.

If Leeds get promoted, Bloom will not sell to Leeds, I’m absolutely 10000% sure of that.
If they bottle it, he’s outgrown them.
If they get promoted, we won’t loan him to them again as that would be stupidity.

Aside from us being relegated, what scenario do they need to invent that leads to him staying there?

IF Liverpool want him, that’s the only way he leaves. Bloom didn’t sell Dunk for £40m and you’d argue with Whites age and playing style he probably has more value now and Liverpool won’t break the bank then loan him out. It must be heart wrenching for Leeds fans knowing their best player is on loan from little old Brighton and that realistically there isn’t any conceivable outcome that involves him being with them next year.

I’m surprised Belgrade fans are even giving an opinion to be honest.
This post is worthy of an award, but I've run out of gold stars, so have this instead:

Unless Dunk goes he would want to be assured we will play 3 at back. Appreciate he is under contract but if not deemed good enough for our team his value will soon go down. We are not in a position to turn down offers of £20m plus for a reserve team player

You should never assure any player of their place in the team, you simply cannot do that in football in my opinion. I’d question Whites attitude if he even asked that, should be good enough to say he’ll be involved with the first team, and if he gets a chance or has a good pre season he has to earn the right to kick Webster or Duffy out.

It’s been muted Duffy might move on in the summer as well don’t forget.

If Liverpool did want Ben White to join a defence of VVD, TAA, Robertson and Gomez and offered a fortune I don't think we could hold him back.
Every player has his price and Liverpool are one of a few clubs that could match Brighton's price (whatever that may be).

I don't see a chance of how he'll be back at Leeds.

I know. *My* point is that listening to some Leeds fans, tou wouldn't think that was the case.

Sure.

Keep forgetting that they haven't experienced top flight football for two decades - little wonder they forget the step up.

Maybe Bloom might sell him if it balances up the millions wasted on Locadia, Ali-J, Andone and Bernardo (what does that little quartet of wastefulness* add up to?).

Not a chance he leaves if we're promoted. If we stay in the Championship he'll go and we're in real trouble.

White embarrassed the best striker in the league on saturday and he's been by far the best defender in the championship this year. His awareness and reading of the game is superb - you don't need to be a 6'2 shithouse to be a centre half now.

Weird considering he's played in a two this entire season and he's been absolutely incredible. I've seen Webster play before and I honestly think Ben White is better. He's genuinely the real deal and will be a England centre half. I can't express how good he is.

I hope you're wrong. Liverpool have followed him all season at ER (their scout is an ex centre half of ours) and whilst I hope he'll sign for us, I'm one of the few fans who think he'd go to Liverpool. We're in hope that he'd want to continue under Bielsa rather than sit on the bench at Liverpool.

.

I don’t think you quite appreciate the step up from Championship to Premier League football. White is only at Leeds as part of the plan for him to make that step up. There is a plan for his development and much though you would wish it otherwise, that plan is for him to return to Brighton at the end of this season.

Good job it's muted - at least nobody else will hear:lol:

Potter has already stated publicly that Ben White is part of his plans for next season. He isn't going to be promising him a starting spot each week as no player of White's age and experience would get that promise in the PL. White will have already seen how Potter has involved Connolly and Alzate this season and I expect he'll get the same opportunities, if he's as good as we hope he is, he will soon establish himself in the squad.

Sure, he may knuckle down and get on with it, but I can't see him relishing replacing Duffy as 4th. choice CB.

I don't see a chance of how he'll be back at Leeds.
I can see two chances. If we are going to sell him for a large amount to a top six club, a season playing regularly for Leeds in the PL is more likely to increase his value than a season as back up CB at Brighton. If we're planning on keeping him, a season's experience of the PL with Leeds would make him an even stronger contender for a regular 1st. team slot at the Albion for the 21-22 season as a ready made PL experienced player.

We should still charge Leeds an arm and a leg for another season's loan though.
