Leeds United legend Jermaine Beckford admits he'd love to see Ben White extend his stay at Elland Road.

The former striker was speaking about the 22-year old's future on TalkSport alongside fellow former forward Darren Bent, and believes White himself may well be in a position to force through a move to West Yorkshire if he so chooses.

"He can appeal directly to the managers or the owners," he said. "If he wants to leave Brighton and go to Leeds, he can appeal to them on a personal level and say 'I've really enjoyed my time here, but I've really enjoyed myself when I was over there.

"Is there any way we can make this happen?

"Becuase he's done so well, and he's got used to a certain way of playing football as well, which is Marcelo Bielsa's way at Leeds. It suits him perfectly."

However, Beckford's point was cut short by journalist Alex Crook, who pointed out that Bielsa's philosophy of building out from the back is one also favoured by Brighton boss Graham Potter, adding that White would subsequently find it easier to adapt to life at the Amex.

Leeds legends think Leeds is a cut above teams like Brighton shock. Be nice to hear what Glenn Murray and Zamora think as a balance.

At what point should anybody gives a crap what an old second rate forward thinks. Really don't get why these second rate news outlets interview these tools.

That's bizarre too. We know that there's a way to make that happen - let Leeds make a bid that's so big, Albion can't turn it down. My guess is that's over £50m but I'm not privy to TB's thoughts

Both Potter & Bielsa have absurd track records when it comes to identifying and developing talent, and they are both desperate to have him. The step between Championship is overrated - most players who do really well in the Championship also does well in the PL. The reason why newly promoted teams often struggle to survive is that they either sign too much weird foreign shit or keep too many of the average Championship players. The ones who were great in the Championship generally carries it over to the PL since a good player is a good player.

Norwich are the perfect example of why this is rubbish

Leeds love White, White loves Leeds, Leeds give us their best offer and because of points 1 and 2, it will happen is the thinking I am getting. Otherwise he just refuses to play for us. Job done.

Leeds are not renowned historically for their business acumen.

Anthony Knockaert, player of the season in the Championship, struggled in the PL

Of course it doesnt apply to every single good Championship player......

But i.e. take some great Championship players who made the step last summer:

Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount, David James, Oli McBurnie, Adam Webster, Che Adams.. they all did quite well. Sure, a few failures as well (cant really think of any but I'm sure there was) but the success rate is pretty high. Most of the Villa/Norwich/Sheffield players who played well in the Championship also settled nicely in the PL.

What do you mean job done?
If he refuses to play, he’ll be training with the reserves!

Nope, not really. they didnt have many players who did well when they won the Championship - rather, the players that did well did really well and some of those, like Pukki, Hernandez and Buendia have shown they are able to play in the PL while their defense that let in 57 goals in their promotion season unsurprisingly were equally shit in the PL.

I’d say they tried to make the step up without spending, was always going to end badly. The best team in the Championship is not good enough for the PL, except Wolves who had quality players throughout the team when they romped the division

Even surprise package Sheffield United strengthened spending quite a bit. Really interested to see how they do this season, I expect them to be relegation candidates.

Should that happen, let him rot for a year, see if he still wants to play for Leeds when they're back in the Championship next season under someone more of the Allardyce inclination.

Ignoring the hearsay from Leeds, is there any evidence that White even wants to move?

Che Adams scored 4 goals, none before lockdown, David James retired years ago, Webster and McBurnie did ok, the other two are a bit iffy as they are from a PL team and were used to playing with PL players, it’s not like Abraham came up with Norwich and bagged 15 goals.

Its shocking how little so called pundits and even the media know about the stories they supposedly have an opinion on. Reading the Leeds media its really easy to see why their fans are so full of shit. They get fed it every single day.
