Might have to spend a bit more then:

BOWYER: MARSHALL OFFERS LAUGHABLE

Ben Marshall's potential suitors have been told by Blackburn boss Gary Bowyer that £1.5million would not even buy his right foot.

Brighton and Sheffield Wednesday have been linked with the former Manchester United trainee as they look to take advantage of Sky Bet Championship rival Rovers' transfer embargo.

Responding to speculation Marshall could be the subject of a £1.5m switch, the Blackburn boss told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph: "The figures that have been mentioned wouldn't buy his right foot - and he's got two outstanding feet and a fantastic head."

But, Blackburn do need to sell and ultimately it's not the managers decision how much he goes for. so, fingers crossed up it to 2m with add on's then who knows.

I seem to remember Cotterell using very similar words about Baldock last season, who does he play for now?

This. That is simply the manager talking up the fee as much as possible, with the knowledge the player will most likely move. If it's a move to us I don't know, but it sounds like he's leaving Blackburn.

Wednesday have more money than us, so if it's going to be anyone it's them.

Every year more and more Championship teams are being taken over by rich foreigners looking to get to the lucrative Premier League. It seems like we can't compete anymore.

As a couple of others have said, if Wednesday are interested and willing to spend on him he won't be coming here. Money aside he's probably a professional northerner too.

Next please, I feel a League One winger is what we'll end up with,

We can compete, we have just made some mistakes recently in terms of player recruitment that have set us back. Still time to sort it out for the start of this season.

Hmm Adam Clayton, that fellow from Bournemouth who ended up at Norwich, Murray last season. Mistakes aside I don't think we are willing to pay top dollar, other clubs are. Not a complaint, just resignation and disappointment that we are also rans in the race for the Premier League now.

Desperately hoping to be shown up as a negative dick by the club...

I don't think Wednesday want him to be honest( sure they have already covered his position), more a case of the venky's trying to raise £17m before administration.

Eager to quash mounting speculation, Cotterill told the Bristol Post: "To be honest, they can talk all they want. We'll just fire back that he's not for sale. As it stands at this moment in time, he is not for sale. If they (Brighton) want to come back and pay £5 million for him, then that is a different matter.

"But that has not happened, so we don't need to think about it. The bid we received is nowhere near even worth talking about."

Wednesday are a far bigger draw than us as perceptions go.

Means we'd need to pay more than them.

Hope we push the boat out

I don't think that first bit was necessarily true until last season.

We had a lot of momentum, had finished higher than them, had a nicer ground and state of the art training facilities on the way. The likes of Vicente, Bridge and Upson were on the payroll. We were getting 25,000 at home and taking decent numbers away. Wednesday, meanwhile were struggling at the other end of the table and had ownership issues.

It says so much about the car crash that was last season that the position is, indeed, probably reversed now. Wednesday are starting to spend again and comfortably beat us in the table. We are no longer Brighton on the verge of the Premier League stuffed full of household names. We have some decent internationals arriving again now but they are still internationals from Finland, Israel and Cameroon rather than England and Spain. A step up though on, say, CMS, Joe Bennett and Gary Gardner.

One season has literally destroyed our reputation and I agree we are going to have to push that bit harder financially to get back to where we were.

Indeed. The utterances of a mere manager have no relation to whether a player is sold

This is where the clubs moneyball, holistic, approach to transfers comes in, and the fact it is completely at odds with how business in done in English football.
