The old fashioned toffee crumble. Not the rubbish they sell today.

It did make a brief comeback in a couple of sweetshops but disappeared again and replaced by the choc nibbles stuff.

I am pretty sure the proper stuff is just mashed up Twix. Maybe it was made from the spoil in the manufacturing process, and now they have refined it so no waste.

Mr Grigg from Griggs Newsagent, 4 Clyde Road where I used to buy all my sweets in the 60’s. Most stuff came in jars of which he had a huge selection.

Mr Simms the old fashioned sweet shop in Worthing went bust but has now re-opened selling all your old fashioned favourites.


(Mr Simms operates a franchise model. The franchisee in Chichester went to the wall as well. Hopefully they have better luck this time around.)
