It is perfectly possible to celebrate goals, create an atmosphere , and generally have a great awayday without being complete dickheads. Thats all the club are asking, they really aren't expecting everyone to remain seated all match , clap politely if a goal is scored and behave like a group of nuns at prayer.

I had a deeply peculiar bloke appear next to me at Ajax. He arrived late and spent half the match on his phone and the other half goading Ajax fans over the see-through barrier. He then f***ed off 10 minutes before the end. He was probably around 50, very 'capably built', full head of hair, and seemed to know a lot of sorts among the crowd. There was a moment of nauseating hero worship from a fat lad in the row in front of us. I tried to exchange a couple of words with him, but smalltalk wasn't part of his skill set. I would have preferred to have moved but @Hugo Rune had already completed a risky manouvre in that regard and a second bout of fannying around seemed pointless. Oh well. Never mind.

I remember Barnet away just over 20 years ago, and someone was in my seat. He wouldn't budge. So I got a steward. The steward moved him, but someone was in his seat (the reason he gave me for not shifting). There followed a merry go round involving several people. I should add there were no empty seats at Underhill that day as far as I could see. I was on my own and arrived near to KO. Not sure what else I could have done. Standing in the aisles wasn't an option. The only thing I could think of at the time was 'people should sit in their own f***ing seats'.

As you note, this needs to be dealt with at the time by the stewards. One imagines that even if you could get to a steward these days they would ask what they were supposed to do about it. Consequently if I were a chemically enhanced 30 something I wouldn't even bother looking where my seat was at an away game, and would just pile in anywhere, and give a 'talk to the hand cos the face ain't listening' to anyone objecting.

For someone like me I need to know what the rules are. They need to be the ones that are enforced. It seems that by and large the rules are not enforced in this situation. That strikes me as idiotic. The whole idea of this is one reason why I hardly ever go to away matches these days. So it will be interesting to see what I find at sham at the weekend.

Not Albion but we had the same at the England games in Euro 2020 when it got pretty lawless to be honest. Ten or more would arrive for 5 seats and yours were right next to them. Stewards didn’t care, me and the missus can’t really take 10 on and she hated the atmosphere around us so we ended up moving. It was happening all over the place and we were lucky to find a couple of empty seats but had those not been available I’m not sure what we’d have done other than put up with it. I also caught Covid there, probably from those guys but who knows?

It has ended up costing me a fortune because if she comes with me to Wembley now it’s level 2 with a comfy seat or she’ll give it a miss! That’s £95 a ticket compared to the £25 behind the goal we were paying before!

I'd agree with that. I got the email telling me off for not listing my ticket for the Southampton game. I replied saying there were over 1000 tickets still available, so listing mine would be a waste of time.
The wording of the email is certainly not diplomatic and very patronising.

A friend of my daughter told her the other day that when she couldn’t go to a game she would have to list her Arsenal ST or she would be told off by the club.

Fulham wasn't oversold. There were just many fans taking the wrong seats, so they could sit together.

Stewards were making zero attempt to correct this, from what I could make out.

Pretty poor given that it was OBVIOUS that there were many more fans than seats in some rows, with supporters spilling into aisles.

The club (Brighton) should take some responsibilty for this. They had their own stewards there (doing nothing).

I'm sorry, do you think that throwing beer, standing in the aisle and "surging" when we score are major crimes that need to see loyal supporters watched and punished? Also, the tone and nature of the email make me strongly suspect the club are going to go beyond the things mentioned.
