Couple of over the hill token Taffs in the squad then. What a total waste of time Olympic football is, no wonder they're struggling to sell tickets for it. Who can remember a single previous gold medal winner? Yawn, yawn, yawn. . . .

Argentina with Tevez in the squad. 2004.

The coverage has been limited in UK because we haven't had a team in it for so long.

He is a current footballer, plays for LA Galaxy. And out of the provisional squad, I thought he had a good chance, certainly when up against that foul mouthed lout Bellamy.

Bellamy is playing in a proper league. Not some Mickey Mouse Cup.

I'm glad Pearce is treating the tournamnet seriously. Anything else de-values it.

Second time Beckham has been the victim of a manager trying to show 'who's in charge'... disappointing that Pearce opted to omit him.

Gutted for him, pretty sure he would of shown great pride in representing Great Britain. more so than Micah Richards without a doubt.

this.

f***ing rediculous decision.

Still in Brighton
Pearce is a fool. No one is taking the olympic football seriously. Picking Beckham would have raised interest and profile, which is really what it's about. Beckham is one reason why we got the nod over the French in the first place.

I wonder if his representative will come out with he's been 'shown a lack of respect'.

And Micah Richards - joke surely?

But isn't that exactly what the Olympics football is? It's nothing more than a Mickey Mouse Cup. Who really takes it seriously? Do you really watch it with the same interest and passion as you do England in a World Cup or Brighton?

When was the last time you watched your country playing football in the Olympics then? There's only a lack of interest because we haven't taken part I'd suggest so let's not make it a Circus.

Sorry, fixed. But my point still stands. One good (in my opinion) player will not make it a circus, but will increase the interest in it.
