It's the most fitting way a crap sporting year like this could be rounded off - giving the prize to someone who isn't an athlete and has won a single title in an elitist sport that she's only been able to prosper in because of who she's related to. :nono:

Even Darren Clarke said that, on sporting merit, Calzaghe deserved it.

Mind you, he boxes on ITV, so I can't say as I'm too shocked unfortunately.

I'm glad Zara won it and a little known sports person came third.

However, Young Sports Personality what a crock of shit what has he done in his life so far FA - that table tennis player at 16 is a world beater

i want to know why Button was on the shortlist, wow he won 1 race in a season, theres other sports people who have achieved alot more in one year than he has in 3

PEOPLE DON'T KNOW OF LET ALONE VOTE FOR A MINORITY WATCHED SPORT.

ZARA HAS ALSO HAD THE BACKING OF LADS MAGAZINES ETC, PLUS FOR PEOPLE IN HER AND LIKE HER SPORT, WELL SHE IS THE ONLY ONE TO VOTE FOR. THE SAME IS WITH GOLF.

IN FOOTBALL THERE ARE LOADS OF CHOICES AND OF COURSE IF YOU'RE A LIVERPOOL FAN YOU WOULD NEVER VOTE FOR A EVERTON OR MAN U PLAYER!

Oh yes and overseas personality -

Tiger Woods - cos his dad died
Roger Federa - cos he's done the same last year that he did the year before and the year before.

What about the only player to take 100 wickets this year - not even an afterthought in the whole evening

Work in Welsh sport and believe you me you are more sport on than Kerry Mayo at the New Den.

At least the horse should have been allowed to collect it!

What a great speech from Mrs Paul Hunter.

She could of dressed for the occasion thought. She looked like she was ready for a night out in Doncaster. You can take the girl out of Yorkshire, but you can't take the Yorkshire out of the girl.

The best woman won.

She was indeed the best woman on the list, no doubt about it, but she shouldn't have come even slightly close to beating either Darren Clarke or Joe Calzaghe IMO.
