I hope he is replaced at the end of this season. You lot can massage your fan egos and be happy that everyone is talking about us, but for me it's about goal, wins and points. And unless I'm mistaken, we are in about the same place we were 2 years ago.

As are you. You're the same miserable nob you were two years ago.

What a bizarre thing to say. I'm anything but miserable. Good job doing good things for people every day, beautiful partner, nice house and my first child born 5 days ago. I'm the most UN-miserable person in the world at the moment:)

Unfortunately 2 years of Barber's relentless PR operation means some people think the club are immune to any criticism whatsoever. We aren't the perfect football club in the early stages of a project that can't fail. Newly promoted Leeds are 10 points ahead of us despite us having their best player from last season and a manager totally new to this league for goodness sake.

There's a lot of good things about the club at the moment, but a number of weaknesses too. Most people can see a bit of both. It's very much a work in progress. You shouldn't be shut down if you dare point out some of the limitations like some people in this thread have been.

Apart from the slightly patronising comments of “a club like Brighton” the interview with Graham on this podcast is really interesting and worth a listen. The media are starting to wake up and realise why he’s been given a long term contract and what he is trying to achieve. I love how well run our club is!

Thanks. Good listen.

Much as I get that there is a ‘PR spin’ in any business, I think that first bit is unfair. It’s almost suggesting those that can clearly see how well run the club is are thick and having the wool pulled over their eyes - they’re not, they just have realistic expectations and appreciate how far we’ve come. If you listen to PB, there’s no way he’s being false or fake - he’s very honest and good. Certainly, the club aren’t immune from criticism - I had a little moan about the charging £25 for swapping season tickets for the odd match when everyone was doing it anyway and the club were fine to turn a blind eye - yet others were praising the club for it. It’s opinions, but my god, we’re one of the best run clubs in the country for sure - and even the neutrals are picking up on this. Let alone the positive football approach we have made in the last few years in the best league in the world. 95% positive at the mo for most id say!

Well said. We do indeed. We have to remind ourselves it is only a minority. A loud one unfortunately. 90% of NSC are awesome. That remaining 10% sure can be incredibly loud, obnoxious and unfriendly though.

I do find it interesting the parallel that pretty much all the “Potter Outs” are in that 10% group. Psychologically it must mean something but I haven’t figured it out yet.

I also find it interesting that the most vocal, negative people on this thread are the same people I have on ignore, for non-football reasons (excepting Junior)...

Well you say that but let’s not forget there’s still a subset of our fans who want him out for some reason.

I agree with everything you said. Thank you for the link [emoji106]

There’s a subset of fans of EVERY club who want their manager/coach out. FFS! Even some Liverpool fans want Klopp to go after a recent run of poor results. As for Newcastle . . . . :drink:

There's no 'some reason' about it. It's because 2 years into this project we're in virtually the same league position.

Now we're virtually safe less people want him out. It's not difficult to understand. If you regularly pick up crap results, particularly at home, with what on paper looks a wonderful squad, you'll likely have a section of the fanbase on your back.

Anyway, does he say anything new or of note?

With that attitude about it why do you care if he’s said anything new or of note?

Personally, as I’ve said all along, TB doesn’t do anything by chance. It’s all calculated and well thought out. Does a self made billionaire make mistakes along the way? You bet he does and learning from those is what make him successful.

Sure you can be pissed off at the lack of home wins if you like, you can delude yourself that were fans in the ground it would have forced TB’s hand [it wouldn’t, don’t you all remember how toxic it was at home under Hyppia and that he resigned and wasn’t fired, and that TB tried to convince him not to quit as he believed in the project?] and you can say the GP is clueless because our players can’t finish off the multitude of exceptional chances we create OR you can use all that energy and passion for the moaning you do and flip it around so that when we DO get back in the ground your voice might be the difference between a miss or a goal, a draw or a win.

One thing is for sure there’s already too much utterly draining negativity from the Amex mood hoovers in life. Try something different, get off your arse, clap if that’s all you can do but DO IT instead of moaning, tutting or getting angry.

This started as a good thread pointing fans to something they might not otherwise have spotted. Imo it shouldn’t really degenerate into a shouting match between those with different takes on GP and our football. Thanks for posting OP - I’m all for positivity

I agree that it should be a debate.

The interview was superb, Potter summarised the game well, and spoke at length about mistakes. His viewpoint is that in high pressure scenarios developing an ethos to minimise those mistakes is invaluable. TB's view is that the only way the club can advance in the long term is to be different to allow the club to punch above our weight. This may result in relegation this season, it's part of the risk, and no one knows more about risk than our owner.

Newly promoted West Bromwich Albion and Fulham are both in relegation positions at present too, so not sure of the point you are trying to make.

Leeds were promoted last season with a £78 million wage bill in the Championship, which was the same as that of the Albion in our first season in the Premier League.

As for the 'some people think the club are immune to any criticism whatsoever' who are they?

I think in the main the decisions made at decision making level are forward thinking and progressive, but they make some clangers too.

Doesn't seem to be a shouting match, and is keeping the threadvnear the top of the board and thus pointing more people towards the podcast.

Hmmm agreed. Look back to see exactly who derailed it from the original subject. You probably won't be surprised.

We've got some right ****ing miserable fans, havent we? ???

If you can't see what has changed in the last 2 years I think you should change sports, as clearly football isn't your game...

Aside from playing more attractive football and being able to lure the likes of Lallana and Welbeck (both of whom up to two games ago many people on here were saying were a waste of space), what else has tangibly changed (genuine question)?

We now have a young and strong squad (replacements for just about every position) and more than a couple of players who are being touted as targets for CL clubs, and a couple who played for them not so long ago. The much maligned Academy is stuffing the criticism back down the doubters throats (I was one them). That is a dramatic change over this time two seasons ago in my book

I couldn't have replied better myself...

I was a staunch Chris Houghton supporter, and was disappointed when he left... However, even David Blunkett or Stevie Wonder can see we are a far superior team to that of 2 years ago. Granted the position hasn't improved much in that time, but no-one, again but an idiot, would have expected instant success.

As for someones comment about Leeds, I will respectfully point towards Huddersfield a d Sheffield United in their Premier League first season achievements and how their managers were drooled over from these very boards.

A year is, like in politics, a very long time.

For real? Off the top of my head:

- Putting faith in young players.
- Dropping our number 1 GK and replacing him with Sanchez is a pretty big change
- Being more tactically flexible
- Not just “playing more attractive football”, that’s quite a disservice, we’ve dominated most games. Really. Which compared to our previous manager is an astonishing turn around.
- Winning away at the big boys
- And going from the first point there’s now a definite pathway from u23s/loans > first team. Surely that’s a change you may have noticed.

We have not got the points this season our performances deserve. Yes, that is not a good thing in and of itself, but taking into account with all of the above, it surely tells us we’re very close, maybe even one striker away from putting all the pieces together.

What do you expect, mid table? Well if it wasn’t for games like Palace and Man U and other robbed results we would be. It seems like short term thinking to want the manager sacked based on games like that.

That's a strange way to look at things. I'm what i think you would call a 'Potter Out' (although it's far more complex than that), but I'm certainly not unfriendly.

You might be a Tory and me Labour, you might be a Brixiteer and me a remainer, you might be a carnivore and me a vegan. Everybody has differing views but just because of that it doesn't make someone unfriendly.

I have differing views to some people on here yet I've never not been friendly and I've never noticed anybody be 'unfriendly' towards me.

The thread was about a podcast. I listened to the podcast. I was then in a position to comment about the podcast.

Meanwhile others come on the thread just to slag off the manager without listening to the podcast.

Pathetic.
