This is the thing that concerns me . The question why Ruth Kelly wants further clarification does suggest she is looking for a reason to side with LDC.
There's no evidence to suppose that this is the case.

One, Lewes, the Albion and the City Council are presenting their evidence. Everyone has the opportunity to respond to that evidence. That's the process.

Two, it was Prescott's advisors who stated that the case for Falmer had been made. Give or take the odd small change in personnel, these are the same people advising Ruth Kelly using the same guidelines. The decisions are made on technical issues. She needs to be satisfied that the claims made by the Cook Estates people really are bollocks.

I've not read it that way - I've always thought she was ensuring that no further legal wrangling would be possible - ie she's crossing all t's and dotting all i's...so this decision (and I f**king well hope its the right one) will be the final decision...

:nono: ;)

I think that sums it up perfectly. It will be an embarassment to the government if this drags on.

basically it says we might or might not get falmer

I would have thought - and hope - that Ruth Kelly is looking for a bit of clarification to avoid reopening the Public Enquiry.

I really can't believe the Government would want to do that, as far as Governments ever get embarrassed they must be embarrassed that it's gone on this long.

And reading the article it seems that the choice is between reopening the Public Enquiry or giving the green light for Falmer - not between Falmer and Sheepcote.

Unless she can be persuaded that it makes sense to reopen the enquiry I think we should get a yes for Falmer.

The ONLY significant thing about today is that it is Thursday 15 February - the closing date for Lewes District Council (and other interested parties) to submit representations that they would like Ruth Kelly to consider.

Kelly announced her willingness to hear further representations at the beginning of November. LDC asked for further time to prepare their submissions. They were given until today.

What will happen next is that all the representations that have been made will be circulated to all of the interested parties, who will be given the opportunity to comment on what has been submitted.

The answer to Rougvie's question is, therefore ... we are NOT going to hear any news - positive or negative - today. Or for some weeks.

NSC's Most Stalked
another deadline looms, 18 clubs have submitted planning applications, had them approved, built the ground and moved in.

With wembley, mk dons, shrewsbury, southend and anyone else thats want one having a stadium can have one

10 years since we left

I also have a copy of the original approval decision stamped in September 2002 - it gave approval and said work has to commence within 5 years - little did i know that with 6 months to that deadline, we would be no closer to our deserved home

Did you make a further representation, Lord B?

The whole thing is quite farcical now. Were not trying to build a huge disco which doubles as a massive 1000 seater pub with strippers and en suite brothels to cater for stag parties , we are trying to build a much needed sporting complex for Sussex and a home for the team that has represented that county in the football league for over 100 years in a brown field by the side of a 50 meter wide double dual carriageway with 65000 vehicles daily , 2 huge university complexes and Moulescoomb North Brighton edge less than a mile away, you just have to laugh at it all now as if you took it seriously you would be sharing a cup of coffee and a red bull with Robbie Williams.

Excellent post. And after digesting the whole thread i actually leave it in a positive frame of mind.I think.

Do we all get to see what nonsense LDC, Falmer Parish Council, Anti building anything that might allow people to enjoy themselves society, etc have submitted this time? After all it is supposed to be a PUBLIC inquiry.

It would have been rude not to.

So now we wait for Ruth Kelly to decide ?

How long is the maximum time to decide and if she does say yes it is OK is that it (finally) ?

Can the LDC do any more to damage to the quest for the Holy Grail ?

I sent in a letter suggesting they build the stadium at the LEVEL.
