He was ok on a low wage, but no way should we take him back on new terms.

I'd love to see him back. Whether he was really that talented I don't know, but he did seem to have luck on his side more often than not.

COME BACK BAS!

(and I got a shirt printed with his name on the back!)

No, because I believe Murray is a better player.

Is the right answer

Part of Bas leaving was he thought he deserved high wages AND a long contract, but his inability on the pitch didn't - he couldn't head the ball well, often looked like he had no idea where the ball was, when he tried to control it, the occasuional bit of luck doesn't make you good or an entertainer, I think its Revell we miss far more than Bas

we have no entertainers in this team and God knows we need one

we need someone to bring the crowd back......

Don't want to sound pedantic but we do have entertainers in the team. The truth is that the way we play at home is very negative. Mr Wilkins needs to take a risk at times.

The player we really miss is Dean Hammond.

I would have him back definitly. As long as he issues an apology and sacks his agent, otherwise we're being taken for a mug.

We have Forster and Murray, great players and definitly our starting two. Then we have Dixon, non league with potential so definitly needs time! We have Robinson, his position has been unclear of late so I wouldn't want to rely on him to fill their boots. But he is a good impact sub. We also have Gatting and Hart neither of whom are up to it if one of them faces a lengthy injury.

No thanks.

Bas was fun while he was here, but he spurned us, and as DK proved with Bertin and Hammond this club is not being held to ransom by average players.

Which has also condemned us to the bottom half of div 3.

I tend to think its more the way Dick negotiates contracts, that causes the problems. Offering silly insulting offers first will only ever get peoples backs up and make them feel unvalued.

Making Hammond the joint highest player in the team ? With a get out clause ? Yeah damn silly wasn't it ?

I think the player was so hacked off by the time this was offered it was not even relivant.

If this was on the table at the begining of negotiations then fair enougth, but offering it once the player feels his future was elsewhere is just PR.

Welcome Back Bas

When Bas left, we were 4 points from the playoffs, since then, we have drawn 3 and lost 5, all by a single goal. Not only did Bas score but perhaps more importantly, as somebody said earlier when Bas played, Forster scored!! Could really do with those goals.....

Come Back Super Bas!!!

Sorry Bas, you've had your chance here and you walked away, if you now regret leaving then you may have learnt an important lesson...that you are only worth what a club is WILLING TO PAY. Tough.

Savage regrets nature of his Albion exit
By Andy Naylor

Bas Savage has admitted to regrets over his departure from Albion.

The former Seagulls striker is still unemployed after rejecting the offer of a new contract.

Chairman Dick Knight blasted Savage for being too greedy when he turned down an 18-month deal at the end of last year.

Savage said: "I regret leaving and stuff. I wish something could have been solved.

"It all got a bit out of hand and rushed. Things were said and people got angry.

"I probably regret the way it was handled. If we had all sat down together perhaps it could have been thrashed out.

"It's a shame, I miss the people at Brighton. For the last year they were like my family but you move on. You never know what football brings."

Savage has struggled to find another club since his acrimonious departure.

He is currently waiting for an answer from Kilmarnock following a fortnight on trial with the Scottish Premier League club.

The 26-year-old's brief stint north of the border included an appearance for Kilmarnock's reserves in a 1-0 defeat by Glasgow Rangers.

Savage added: "That was good, my first 90 minutes since leaving Brighton.

"It has been difficult. Doing your own training is not the same.

"I am ticking over by working with the former Bradford City player, Jamie Lawrence, in Wandsworth. When he packed the game up he set up fitness sessions.

"They used to be in the summer to prepare players for pre-season but now he is full-time. I have been going to him with a few other pros trying to get back into the game and others who are trying to make it."

Savage scored ten goals in 35 starts and seven substitute appearances during his 11 months with Albion, the last of them against Tuesday's opponents Cheltenham in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy at Withdean in November.

He was much more prolific than with any of his previous five clubs and the ex-Gillingham and Bristol City front man also forged an understanding with Nicky Forster, a former team-mate at Reading.

Forster is still Albion's leading markman with 12 goals but he has not scored since Savage left.

New partner Glenn Murray believes he can help Forster end his two-month famine.

We need a striker.

So yes.

Dick Knight would never sanction it though.

I agree. Also Forster hasn't scored since Bas left. They seemed to work well together.
