[Albion] Bart Verbruggen to...Man Utd?

I dare say Man Utd regret buying Onana and their number two keeper looked awful in the League Cup game v Spurs.

Their coat's on a shoogly peg PSR wise though. Their need for a striker and a left wing back looks like making a much more pressing demand on any funds they have.

Can't see Bart leaving us in January unless a huge bid came from somewhere. I think it's unlikely to be Man Utd.

£30m is definitely too low if it doesn't include a shitload of bonuses etc.

Absolutely zero chance we're selling him in January but its not impossible to envision it in the summer given that we have very promising keepers coming up.

Could see this happening in the summer but it would take more than £30 million. Bart always looked like our “buy to sell” keeper. But the reason we have a ton of keepers is the relatively high sell value of the position.

As @Bozza says that would then give us a straight choice between using Beadle / Rushworth / A.N Other keeper already here, buying an established keeper (unlikely) or looking in the market for the next buy to play then sell.

Agree - I think they will need to find a buyer for Rashford before any big spend on replacing Onana (or anyone else) but £50m might be a big ask for any Club with the salary that would come with it too,.

Is it me or do all the other #TeamsLikeBrighton not nearly get as pillaged as us? Even our lawnmowers get approached.

None of the others teams like Brighton are quite like Brighton, so there's differences and yes those differences make us better at producing and developing top level players.

How is Beadle doing at MASSIVE? I have a few Oxford STH mates who thought he was amazing and are certain he’s a future England no.1
I work with a Sheff Wed fan. He thinks Beadle is brilliant, destined for Prem football & desperately wants to keep him long term.

Sorry, of course can't take credit for that. Would be silly.

Try "None of the others teams like Brighton are quite like Brighton, so there's differences and yes those differences make Brighton & Hove Albion Holdings Ltd, its subsidaries and employees better at producing and developing top level players".

not happening in jan whatsoever. i’d actually be quite comfortable if we sold him in the summer, as long as we’re getting £50M or thereabouts. goalkeeper is the one position where we have a crystal clear succession pathway, and i think TB might be tempted by the profit from the £50M being able to go straight on the balance sheet without having to spend any money for a replacement

It’s what it is - we cannot compete with the wage structure the larger clubs can offer but we also can’t stop players from progressing in their careers. In that context, selling these players on can be good for several reasons mainly:

  • affirms that we are a good stepping stone to big 6/7 clubs - we will always attract young development players with talent from all over the globe who are looking for mid-level EPL with a long term view to eventually playing Champions League football.
  • The model of buying low and selling high is how we survive financially in a league dominated buy filthy rich clubs - and we are widely acknowledged as being a very well run, unusually (for football clubs) profitable club -

The backroom staff is slightly different - Clubs like Chelsea, (Newcastle and Man U to a lesser extent), think that by buying our recruitment/directors, they can buy our model of success but it doesn’t work like that as we know..

But obviously that means the time and price must be right for selling players.

£30m for Bart in January would be completely against our interests but £38-50m in the summer not so much for the reasons above.

It seems a bit "amateur" to sell the first choice goalie in the January window rather than in the summer.

Indeed, it would be something only a badly run club would do, so I think this rumour can be discounted as FALSE.

If we do sell him - it won't be in January.

The earliest he may leave is the summer, which would give us a window to replace him. And if we do expect him to leave, we will have a solution to that problem.

And no-one, including me, are saying we are thinking of letting him go for £30m.
Agree. I think we’ll see a ton of rumours around our players in January, but we won’t actually sell anyone we don’t want to……..

Agreed and both the points I was making above but we are a few days away from a January window so thread titles like that tend to give the impression otherwise as do all these sports rags posting clickbait headlines about possible transfers before every transfer window until you read the small print that they are not talking about the next transfer window but printing rumours about the one after that !.
I get my ITK info from my scource up here in Landan town.
