Stupid to lunge in. It's the first chance the wanker boo boys have had for a while to give him grief.

As a 'Wanker boo boy' the performance against Arsenal is the only one I have ever given him praise for. In other words he has had one good game and he's back to the usual crap the next. His petulance and his lack of technical ability will stop us ever making the play-offs if he starts week in week out. He should only be used as an 85th minute sub or in League 1 or 2.

Barnes thought if brighton win today they might make playoffs, and even premier league!!

Il make sure we lose by getting a red card, then we stay championship side and I stay in the side, because if brighton go up, il get dropped...

Barnes to get the blame, even though we were 2-0 down against relegation candidates that seldom score or win at home.

Brighton bullied out of it again by a tall team with power.

1-0 when he was sent off, the 2nd was scored a minute after.

The game was lost before he went off. 73 games since we came from behind to win, playing one of the form the teams in the division, at a ground at which we've never won in our club's history, and one down before he was sent off. I struggle to say we lost because of him.

His other red card was one that most people seem to agree he should never have got.

Sparrow had his two yellow cards in the same season. The second in his first appearance after his first. He was simply not as good as the improvements Gus brought in.
Vincelot was viewed as utility man, who was no longer needed after improving the squad.

Greer got two red cards in the same season, after being unavailable to play for us at the start of the season due to a suspension for a red card. He also got another red card last season and is still with us.

Gus hasn't thrown anyone aside because of the number of red cards they have.

Barnes does let his temper get the better of him (and there can b no excuses for it), but he hasn't actually received nearly as many reds or yellows for it as people think (and probably not as much as he deserved).

FACT - Barnes had one of his best games ever against Arsenal and showed that he can give as much to the team ,if not more than CMS or Hoskins.
FACT - He can be held largely responsible for our loss today. There is no excuse for putting us down to ten men and therefore at a huge disadvantage for the rest of the game.
I was won over to the pro-barnes camp last week , now the jury's out ( oops).

No team, least of all Albion, can afford to have any one player who is likely see the red mist and then compromise the entire team, perhaps for the whole season ( or the remainder thereof )

AB is obviously an ongoing risk, no matter what he has achieved/failed to achieve since arriving here, and I don't think we can accommodate that risk so hopefully GP will accept that any benefit in starting AB is not worth that risk !

Not sure what contract remains but he should be disposed of by sale / release.

So basically, you choose to ignore the three or four other good games he's had directly preceding the Arsenal match to trot out the boring "one good game, one good bad crap"?

He made a silly mistake today and deserved a rollicking from Poyet which no doubt he'll get. We'll miss him for the next two games guaranteed but hopefully it will mean CMS and Ulloa get to start together at Blackburn.

Every cloud and all that...

Barnes was a massive prick today. He got out muscled for a 50/50 and went down easily. Rather than get up and try to win the ball back - and he could have made it much harder for the Weds player to get the cross in - he appealed to the ref, who ignored him. Meanwhile the Weds player put in a potentially dangerous cross and Barnes put in a stupid late tackle.

It's not so bad when players get sent off for a clumsy tackle, or a last man situation, but he's an idiot and his petulance ended the game as a decent contest for the 1000 odd that travelled and paid to come today.

He needs to seriously sort out his discipline. I thought he had put it behind him but obviously not. Another spell on the sidelines beckon.

Arguably no more than he deserves. What an idiot.
