It doesn't matter how well Barnes does - some people will always be in denial. It's almost as if they need someone to slag off.

Absolutely. There are some round here (mostly those with the footballing acumen of a turnip) that would say 'He's an unproven championship striker' just after we signed Messi. There are people in this world that are never happy. Gus and Barnes could take us to the Champions League final and they would still moan.

Barnes is a class striker who does so much for the team and really tries his hardest when he plays for us. I love the guy and can never understand why he gets dropped to the bench other than as a scapegoat for lack of goals in recent matches. He gives us something extra but subtle when he plays for us and i think he links up well with the rest of the team. Only young and could develop into something really good for us.

I'm glad other people think the same way, when the whole team were missing chances left right and centre it was always Barnes getting it in the neck on here

Agreed. Always liked this young player, who would not be on high money, but gives his all, has bottle to mix it with opponents when they are physical or when things are going against us, and has scored a lot of goals for someone who cost peanuts.

He never whinges about playing anywhere for the team

What is quite funny though, is that Barnes has a single moment in the form of a nod on and he gets rave reviews, but CMS makes and takes his goal sweetly and with great pace, and there are still many of you on here who think he should be sold.... thats what gets my flamin goat.

SHIT, apologies, you're right, I forgot the 1 he scored (from a yard out) at Blackpool.

4 it is then, plus 3 assists.

What a BONUS he is.

Just a point of comparison, bearing in mind they play in the same position more or less:

Barnes: Goals 4; Assists: 3
Zaha: Goals 5; Assists:3

I can imagine the Palace fans baying for Zaha's blood too considering his return is only one better in goals. Oh, wait...

a) He did much more than a single nod on; b) CMS got a lot of credit and c) the difference is that if CMS is sold, it is generally perceived that it will be for a considerable fee. If he does go and its for £3m+ then its not the end of the world as long as we get in someone to replace him. I for one don't want him to go. yesterday proved that when Barnes and CMS actually get to work together, they can do it very, very effectively.

I think CMS and 'somebody' works well, but we just need that 'somebody' to be a 15 goal man also, thats the mark of a decent attacking lineup, goals from at least two strikers.

His flick on for CMS' goal was class, I'm on the fence with him. However, if he plays like that and is setting CMS up. Get him on the field, he deserves it. He may not be a prolific striker, but he does a lot more.

I'm not a huge Barnes fan but he had a very good game yesterday and anyone who was there would agree. Nothing more, nothing less. Ditto Hammond.

Is it? I've been posting on here over 10 years, it's fair to say the 'witty' Withdean Wanker thing has already been done.

Yes but it's so totally apt that it's well worth bringing it to the attention of us JCL's
