I think you will find that the obsession is on the part of those who keep posting threads each time he manages to have a dump without hitting the seat.
you're obsessed with Barnes & always have been

I honestly don't think it was about his misses. Barnes was just an easy scapegoat. Nobody hated CMS and he cost 3million quid!!
In fact, it makes a rather interesting comparison, highlighted how fickle and strange football supporters are.
CMS cost a shit load and has rather unimpressed. Barnes did as much, if not more, in his Albion career, yet cost 22 oranges and a packet of hobnobs. Was much younger, and was playing in the Wiltshire Beagle Sunday League just months before.
YET, it's Barnes the fans jump on.
Nope, I don't raise new threads on a player who in my eyes is just an average footballer......... why are you still obsessed with him then?you're obsessed with Barnes & always have been
He (and CMS) did miss a hatful of sitters at the Albion and those misses cost promotion. Whether you think its unfair or not, that's what people remember. We were inmy view, one player short of the premier league. That player was Murray. Poyet's / the Albions greatest mistake in recent year (well since this summer!).
Maybe so, the only point I made was that he was called Barn Door Barnes
Every striker misses sitters.
And would Murray have made the difference? This is his third season in the championship, for the first he needed 8.5 shots for every goal, this season he needs 9 shots for every goal. I find it highly unlikely that of the 50-odd missed shots he's had this season, none of them were what some fans would call 'sitters'. If we have that Murray, I don't see him having made much of a difference to our promotion hopes under Poyet.
If we got the Murray who played in that middle season (only 2.5 shots needed for every goal) we'd also need our own versions of an on-form Zaha and bolasie causing mayhem on the wings, zipping balls into the box, which we didn't have. How many times did we play two wingers under Gus?
It was a ridiculous red card at Bolton.........................as he did nothing to deserve it.
Are all the clueless football fans now appreciating what a good player he is? Or is nailing down a starting place in a PL team still not evidence enough.
Nope he's still dog shite even if he scores 5/6 prem goals...Burnley fans don't rate him either to be fair.
Just because he scores a cracker once a season it doesn't make him a good player and he's old news now thankfully.

Bent has spent many years in the Premier League, played for England & his most recent transfer fee was £18 million, ffs.
We let Ash go halfway through a promotion campaign, with an injury decimated squad, to save possibly losing £750 poxy thousand
I wonder how many will be saying similar about JFC when he's sold? He is a good midfielder as played by three managers and England U21, but it's fashionable to slate him.
You don't know what you've got til it's gone.
He's scored one good goal and one mis hit in 17 or so prem games.
Incorrect. He's scored a winner with his head, he's scored a winner with a deflected shot and then that beauty yesterday.
Ah sorry did think I could be wrong with that. Either way not prolific - fairly good champs player but not a prem player - like most the Burnley squad tbh..
I'd love it if Burnley stayed up. Sean Dyche comes across as a very grounded, yet passionate manager, they have no fancy dans in the squad, and if they stay up it increases the chances of Palace coming down.
Ha ha. Come on El Pres. You played the game. He knew what he was doing.
