Barnes appeal being considered

No point in appealing when Burnley are able to commit two two footed challengers in a game and not even get get a booking.

Maybe Barnes should have just stayed stationary and seen what sort of injury he would have got!

For his reaction AND the challenge surely?
Dermot Gallagher loses all credibility if he does not mention that the challenge McCann made was horrendous as well!

I've just been looking on Seagulls Player and my conclusion so far is that if Barnes was shown a red card for the challenge then McCann had to go too because his challenge was worse. Add to that the reaction while Barnes was still on the ground and I think we were hard done by.

As for Howe, Tindall and the 4th official-that has set a very unwelcome precedent for football. Managers influencing referees by way of 4th officials. Not good.

The authorities must now clarify the role of managers/4th officials based on Saturday's decision.

That's just brave magnanimous Barnes for you. If he'd got injured then Billy Paynter would have come on and you know how that would have sent NSC into a frenzy. Once again Barnes puts all others above himself.

Not really worth appealing. Maybe send an official complaint about the referee due to the sheer amount of decisions he missed or got wrong, that's about it.

Although, maybe Vincelot could get a reduction seeing as how the FA appealed against Rooney's if his red was due to a punch (which I still haven't actually seen confirmed officially anywhere) - on the grounds there was no reaction from Burnley player so it wasn't violent or dangerous.

FRUIT OF THE BLOOM
McCanns tackle was way worse than Barnes.

There should be a retrospective RED for McCann

Has a decision not involving the top 5 EVER been changed?

Rule of thumb, unless it is blindingly obvious that it wasn't a red card, do not bother appealing. If they have to think about it, then they should forget it. Move on, I say

Appeal & also reference the Mccann tackle slicing Barnes into the air as violent conduct as the ref clearly didn't see it!

It would if it was preceeded by this one. Barnes is clearly jumping to stop the Burnley player snapping his leg in two. I've watched this almost frame by frame on BBC website and I get angrier and angrier every time I see it. Absolutely no way on earth did Barnes deserve to go for that, whereas the Burnley player should have done. Yes, Barnes landed on the guys leg, but it was ACCIDENTAL and 100% caused by the reckless challenge in the first place. And look where the ref is FFS - how could he not see the challenge from the Burnley player

Edit: shit, picture too small

To right appeal it, for one it will highlight how poor the ref was (sure albion's match return with the ref rating would also require written explanation of a poor mark against him)

I am sure a court will be more lenient on you if you punched someone if they broke into your house and were raping your children then if you just punched someone randomly in the street.

I do know what you mean, but this isn't a court, though. Nor does it act like one. The FA / FL is both prosecutor and judge, the referee is both prosecutor and witness, and Ashley Barnes is deemed guilty until proved innocent.

Scenario
BHA: We contest this as it is our contention that Ashley Barnes was trying to get out the way of an impending lunge which could have injured him. In the end, he mis-timed his leap and inadvertently stood on McCann's leg.
PAWSON: I don't agree.

Case closed. Extra match ban for frivolous challenge.

I've just watched it again and there is no way that Barnes is trying to avoid a tackle. He is running towards the ball when he jumps into the challenge It looked deliberate at the time and even now it looks rather too deliberate for comfort.... He jumps in with both feet off the ground and then extends them down as he comes down on the Burnley player. That kind of movement breaks legs.

oh and the ref is right next to the incident and watching. there is no way he could have missed it. Right decision for a dreadful lunge by Barnes which he was fortunate did not result in a worse injury

But I am still mystified by the Vincelot although people assure me it was a quality elbow.......
