Newmarket.
OMG so edgy.
I guess Sothebys must've missed the slot in the bottom of the frame whilst the "Art" was in their possession.
Good PR stunt though. Clever.

Only a logical progression from one of his earlier works

So who loses out? The buyer, Sotheby's or the seller?

Having read some of the press comments I feel that it should have revealed an image of an art critic with their head shoved up their backside.
Interesting. But what do you think after reading some of the press comments?

That, and the fact that they’d have presumably had to plug the frame into an electrical socket...

To be fair it looks like it was a back lit picture so they would have needed to plug it regardless of the shredder.

Funny, and clever, with a nod to Deschamps.

The talk now is about the buyer getting a bargain as the value of the work has increased significantly.... and Banksy withdrawing the sale. On this latter point there’s a debate as to at what point the sale takes place ie did it sell when the hammer struck “gone” or when cash and contacts are handed over.

The man is a genius. We have the queen with her dogs on a wall down here (Whitstable). Anyone who dosn't smile when they see it is only half alive.Queen.jpg

Shame some eejit has addeded graffiti to it though. How ironic.

Have to say that Dismaland was excellently dismal. Or possibly vice versa. One and only time in my life I'll visit Weston Super Mare for sure. The boost to the local economy must have been astounding - the chippie on the seafront in particular must have thought it had died and gone to Dead Seaside Town Commerce Heaven. Not sure my dear old mum enjoyed her lunch all that much though. RIP.

Here
Shirley "sold as seen" is the applicable principle in this case?

Very good, although my favourite of his is still the pictures he secretly put up in a museum that stayed there for around five days.
