Did anyone like this series? Based on the 101st Aibourne in ETO (Europe Theatre Operations), produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks. I've read the book and have the DVDS and I think it is brillant.

On NSC for over two decades...
This series got me through a couple of boring months of Sunday evenings by myself when I was on secondment in Hitchin.

Gripping series, and most of those Americans were actually British actors - even Simon Pegg appeared in one episode I recall!!

In London village.
Enjoyed it, although like most Spielberg you would think the only people in WW2 were the Yanks and the Germans.

An unbelievable 9.6 out of 10 , bearing in mind the highest score for a film of all time is 9.1 for the Godfather 1.

Superb TV, one of the best mini series ever made. Most of the actors were cast due to their strong resemblance to the people they were going to be portraying. One of the extras on the DVD features the real Sgt Guarnere and Frank John Hughes, who played Wild Bill, looking out over the ardennes forest, you could be looking at Grandfather and Grandson quite easily.

There were a lot of British Actors playing pretty major parts in the movie. Simon Pegg and Joel Beckett (Jake in Eastenders) also had small roles although I am yet to work out where they appear in it.

This series is so unbelievably realistic, so authentic., 17 September 2004

Author: Philip Van der Veken from Tessenderlo, Belgium

There aren't much TV-series which have left such an impression on me as Band of Brothers did. From the moment I saw the first episodes, I knew I had to buy this on DVD.

This series, telling you the story of Easy Company of the US Army Airbourne Paratrooper division is so unbelievably realistic, so authentic... There has been put so much effort in taking care of all the details that it makes you believe that you are right in the middle of all the action. This is an outstanding achievement. It's about ten hours long, but I wouldn't mind if it was a few hours longer.

Each episode opens with interviews with several of the actual men from Easy Company, talking about some of the experiences that that episode deals with. When you buy the special edition DVD box (a metal case with 6 instead of 5 DVD's), you will find the complete interviews with these men on the extra DVD. These interviews certainly aren't to be missed!

As you may have guessed, I'm one of the biggest fans of this series. I could go on for hours about it, but our time is limited and instead of reading this you better watch the series yourself. According to me, there is only one score appropriate for a masterpiece like this one and that is 10/10. Amazing!!!!

Very good series though, one of the best war sieries ever made in fact.

It is the story of an American company though so its logical it would focus strongly on the Yanks.

I think you'll find there is a plethora of British films about WW2 where the yanks aren't even given a second thought.

Very true. All seems to be propoganda, but then I guess, that is how films came about....

For the record I am half way through Band of Brothers at the moment, and have enjoyed it.
