Leandro Trossard (Brighton)

There seems to be some suggestion that Graham Potter owes Brighton fans an apology for leaving Amex Stadium for Stamford Bridge so abruptly. An apology - what for? Brighton fans should think themselves very lucky to have had Potter for as long as they did. It was well known in football circles that he had turned down a number of offers before he succumbed to the lure of Chelsea.

The problem the Seagulls have now is can they hang on to Leandro Trossard, who destroyed Chelsea, and made it very uncomfortable for Potter on his return to his old club. It is not unusual for good players to end up at bigger clubs - or managers for that matter.

Good old Garf journalism. Potter randomly mentions he doesn’t have anything to apologise for and suddenly there’s a suggestion we want an apology. No Garf, we just want him to f*** off and keep his hands off our staff and players as he’s already done too much. Oh, and once again, that whole piece is pretty much a disrespect to us and how long will we keep one of our current best players. Pathetic.

It's fine. Find a neutral who doesn't think the same.

Chelsea came here and got a battering. That's all that matters.

Not sure i can describe how much of a dick head I think Girth (living up to his name) Crooks is. I open the thread just to satisfy my dislike and low opinion of the uselessness of his maunderings in the vague and somewhat disillusioned hope that I am being unduly negative and cirtical of the big moron. But I come away fully vidicated on his patheticness and inability to string a whole thought together.

So Trossard singlehandedly destroyed Chelsea did he? Wow. So it should be a first 1 for Wolves then, the others can take a day off. Twunt.

What an absolute pillock - by God I hope we break the top 7 this season, if nothing more than to prove it can be done and ‘small’ little clubs ‘like Brighton’ can disrupt the accepted order.

As for this idea that we’ve been mean to Graham, and we were lucky to have him... I think he was lucky to work for a progressive club, with a brilliant chairman etc. He did well, of that there is no doubt, but (for me) he could have done even better... AND no one stood in his way when he decided 12 million was just enough... it doesn’t mean we have to like it though - so there!

Those are quite normal takes. You can't expect a journalist to be as butthurt as a Brighton fan.

What is utterly ridiculous however is this bloke picking one player from a team that crushed Chelsea while picking three players from a City team that put up a sleepy, dull performance against Leicester.

Didn't see all games but most likely more than Crooks saw and its quite obvious a few more Brighton players should be in that side.

I’m not bothered by Crooks or any other pundit sticking up for Potter.

From afar, they fail to note that mid season our entire coaching set up was pinched, as was MacAuley and then just before this game moves to take Winstanley. Some of whom were here years before Potter.

TB/PB had to entirely rebuild in the middle of a campaign.

Potter showed himself to be an emotionless automaton, it’s purely business to him. The admiration that 90% of the fanbase felt for him, wasn’t reciprocated, he’s a cold fish. There are managers that gel with a fanbase beyond their job, when they depart perhaps they don’t out of respect take the kitchen sink with them and them come back calling for more. That’s not Potter. It was easy to think of him as a bit of cnt.

That smacks of him not actuality knowing what to write about Trossard and his performance, so instead just churning out a load of Potter-related low-hanging fruit to reach the desired word count.

Funny bloke :dunce:

Yup. And two from United, and two from Arsenal. But just one from Leeds, who were the first team to win away at Anfield for 18 months. Prat.

Agreed. he was given the time and space to change things in our style of play and TB/PB and a lot of the fans (but not all) stuck with him though some god awful and dire performances and winless streaks without beig sacked. How many other clubs would have a) taken the gamble on him and b) stuck with him through the thick and thin of the past 3 years. Answer is - not many, not many at all.

Textbook Garth there. He's just a bit weird, and doesn't seem to have a clue what he's talking about. The end of his write-up is even weirder:

The Crooks of the Matter

I see the Socceroos released a collective statement against Qatar's human rights record, becoming the first 2022 World Cup team to do so. The video message criticises the World Cup hosts' treatment of migrant workers and LGBTQ+ people. I would find the announcement far more compelling if Australia's treatment of the Aboriginal Australians over the years had not been so appalling.

The Aussies have qualified for the World Cup but I propose that if they feel so aggrieved about the way the Qataris run their country, I can offer a modest suggestion - don't go!

Actually boycotting the World Cup and not playing would make a far greater statement and back up their conviction far more than mere platitudes. After all, they are not going to win the tournament so why go if you feel so strongly about it?

So, Australia aren't very good so they should sacrifice themselves.

I'm surprised Crooks overlooked MOTM Connor Gallagher in midfield. He nearly scored a brace

There is only one apology Brighton fans would be interested in.

An apology from Crooks for writing (yet again) another profoundly under-researched piece of twaddle.

We all know that he picks a team made up of Big Six players each week and then swaps a few out with ‘other 14’ players if their teams have won. But this attack on Brighton fans is as unwarranted as it is invalid. The story from Saturday is that Potter gave us everything we wanted - 3 points.
