Match Ratings:

HENDERSON - Couldn't have done much better in goal today.Wasn't really threatened but saved well in the last minute - 6

EL ABD - Had a terrible game.Got wound up after his booking and could have ended up getting sent off.McGhee was right to take him off - 4

MCSHANE - MOTM for me.Played his socks off and got Gallen sent off the typical way we always see Albion players get sent off for.Nice move that turned the game around.Cleared well off the line to stop 2-0 - *8*

BUTTERS - Beginning to think that he's not ready for another year, played well but wasn't at his best.Disappointing two weeks in a row now - 5

HINSHELWOOD - Fairly quiet, some nice little touches, didn't really get in the game and was outclassed on the wing in the first half - 5

FRUTOS - Wasn't at the races today, was at fault for their goal, failing to pick up his man and given him a free header.Apart from that he still didn't look like he wanted it,was rightly taken off - 5

CAROLE - Not up to his usual tricks on the right hand side, made few runs forward and didn't get in the game at all.Did try and link up well with Kazim-Richards in the first half and had our only shot on target - 6

CARPENTER - Not great today.Like always, gave it 100% but still didn't play well enough to be in the team.Didn't give it out wide as often as he could, and wasn't really in the game that often - 5

HAMMOND - Didn't get in the game. Was not very good today and really, didn't look interested. He made some nice little touches in the first half, but they were brought to nothing as QPR kept winning the ball back - 5

KAZIM-RICHARDS - Did try as hard as he could today, always trying to move the ball quickly, always making an option for a pass, but with no movement, this came to nothing. However, more performances like this and he'll soon get goals - 7

HART - Really tried today and was showing why he should get a new contract next season. He made some nice movement and made the best space he could but didn't get enough service.Alot of the time marked out of the game by Shittu - 6

SUBS

DODD - Not good enough.Played terribly when he came on,his lucky punt upfield creating the goal but 9 times out of 10 he was passing to a blue and white hoop instead of a maroon shirt.Quality quote from McGhee after the game when he said Dodd doesn't give the ball away - 4

GATTING - Quiet when he came.Didn't really have alot of service to show his talents but did show a little more passion than other players today.Acdcording to Harty 3 championship clubs and 1 premiership club were at the game to today looking our youth so maybe it was Gatting?

LOFT - Created so much space on that left hand side but the rest of the team left him standing with his dick in his hands as they barely even played him into the game.He only got 3 real touches, two poor passes but one of them was to fire an unlucky strike wide in the last few minutes - 5

TO CONCLUDE:

Too many average players in the squad, players knowing they can do better but not getting the right service and some players having an off day.The typoical Albion match all in all.

Been back about an hour. It was flipping cold at QPR.
Rubbish football by both sides. We did not deserve a point. QPR looked as if they had 11 men and us 10.
McShane most certainly our MOM followed by Henderson and Harty.
I thought Frutos and Carole had their worst games for us as did EL Abd but the rest were not far behind.
Today has cost me getting on for £75. Why I ask? Suppose it's because since 1953 I have been an Albion Fan

PS Every time I come back on the train from away match in London I notice how many Arsenal Supporters there are who go up from Sussex.
Grrrr.

We created two shooting chances today which = inability to score goals.

It is the story of the season I'm afraid.

And what fucks me off even more is in the pre match warm up, the strikers are hitting sweet shots past Martin from Bookers lay off, Carole gets a golden opportunity from i think Hart's lay off and hits it straight at Jones

You are so right. The only one who had trouble hitting a goal in the warm up was Gary hart and true to form he missed one in the match. But the others all hit goals in the warm up but could not deliver when it mattered:nono:

Henderson 6 - slow off his line at times, perhaps could have done better with goal (was megged) but a couple of good second half stops.

Hinsh 6 - A solid first half, all went tits up when McGhee somehow established he was a suitable left back

El-Abd 6 - all over the park, some solid play but some late tackles, booked deservedly

McShane 8 - solid, even with all the QPR abuse. Player of the season.

Butters 6 - did look off the pace at times, from memory was beaten for the goal, although i may be wrong. Otherwise the normal Guy, but their lanky striker posed problems

Carpenter 6 - Ok first half, but sooo off the pace second half it was unreal. Really needs to be dropped for Reid or Nicolas

Hammond 5 - crap first touch, crap passing, crap movement.

Carole -6 - seems to lack confidence to take ANYONE on anymore, just cuts inside

Frutos 7 - shouldn't have been taken off, threatened on the left, a daft subsitution

Hart 6 - not a striker, lost out to Shittu. Ok on the right.

Kazim-Richards 6- lazy, spent too long moaning at the referee. No Fight.

Subs:

Gatting 5 - did bugger all, although apparently threatened the defender for the goal

Loft 6- some promise, some dreaful skills

Dodd - 6 Shocking start, but as he got settled looked to play some great lineballs and slotted in at the back well.

That sounds negative, but the main problem is lack of creativity. Also some bizarre substitutions, and the fact that even against ten men we were bricking it at the end and never really went for the winner

Anyone else notice ainsworth biting el abds elbow?! [/B][/QUOTE]

I think he was kissing it which was really winding el abd up - trying to get him to retaliate and get carded or sent off. Thought ainsworth was quality apart from that.

Agreed. We were playing good stuff under Coppell with the same team McGhee took over and apparently "miraculously" got promoted.

and "miraculously" kept in the 2nd tier - first Albion manager to do so since 1991. But if it means that little to you, guess you won't be that disappointed if it doesn't happen again this season.

Everybody cares if we go down but some of us are more philosophical about the situation.

Hmmm, not over till the fat lady.....

On yesterdays game, QPR do have a quality midfield and it showed against ours.

I thought that Loft looked promising, although we seemed to be scared to pass it to him, the turning point for me, after just a shockingly bad 1st half, was Dodd. I thought that after 5 terrible minutes he settled and played some of the best balls down the wing I have seen this season. It's just a shame that it was not from the midfield, but the back! As a result it just forced CKR wide. But for me he showed that quality that we are missing.

Another thing, it was bloody cold wasn't it!!

No, can't agree, we played shit under Coppell in League 1 except Sheff Weds and Rushden. We were very very lucky to go 6 points clear at the top. People talk about MM fans having rose coloured spectacles but it's no different to canonising of Coppell by the MM out fans. Remember that he had us out of the bottom 3 well before the end of the season and we slipped to 2nd bottom and not beating the teams around us WHILST HE WAS IN CHARGE that relegated us. Please stop trying to re-write history. Coppell is a good manager and even he failed.

I'm still cold this morning! BTW good summary except QPR's midfield was not that good, just average. Unfortunately ours is below average by a long way. Agree about Dodd,. After he settled down he was quality.
