Away ticket priority - do you think the Albion should run this scheme?

Should the Albion operate a scheme such as the below?

  • Yes, it seems fair that those that go to most/all away games do not miss out for the 'big' games.

No I am sorry lord B but, for once, you have totally missed the point.

The discount offered by the club for season ticket prices is the club's business. You can't blame people for taking advantage of this. Either the club want the money or they don't. If they do then the price they charge is their affair. Its not as though one sits down with Martin Perry and enters into negotiations. The forms come through the door with the clubs offer and its "take it or leave it".

The Spurs fiasco is all down to the completely arbitary method used in dishing out the allocation.
No explanantion has been given as to why some people (whose credentials are all the club asked for - STH, AMS, A&K) have not got tickets, yet some (who are none or just one of the above) have been able to buy as many as they liked. Perry's letter does nothing to assuage the feeling that some of us have been taken for granted here.

It should possiby have been limited to one ticket per application
I'm not making a big thing out of the discount for season ticket holders, merely pointing out that season ticket holders DO get something out of the Club, over and above a guaranteed seat for home matches.

As for the Spurs fiasco, it is increasingly looking like something has gone wrong in the particular way that these tickets were issued. First-come-first-served is a good SYSTEM, but did that system break down on this particular occasion?

It looks to me that it might well have done. Possibly the fault of the Royal Mail, but some people are reporting rejection letters being received by people who applied on days one and two (including people who hand delivered applications to the Ticket Office). If that is the case, then something has gone wrong in the Ticket Office. And that means that it will have to be investigated and rectified.

We don't want to see a new priority system introduced (unnecessarily imo) only for that to fail as well.

I am not a computer whizz kid but having already a data base of AMS members and STH how difficult would it be to record each ticket sold on both for home and away matches and then when an allocation is required i.e Rotherham later in the season why not then give the top 1500 or whatever number as per the previous purchases of the tickets.

This means that STH will automatically have 21 points so they stand a fair chance of being in the top 1500. Those that also travel to away games would most definitely be in the top 1500 and those non STH that travel to all away games would be in the same position as a season ticket holder who doesnt go to away matches.

A STH now would have 11 or 12 points for the homes games plus any away that they have been to.

Those that attend most matches would get tickets.

The points system was debated within the Club before the Grimsby game two seasons ago.

It was eventually rejected after protests from people who pointed out that there are very many people indeed who do not have their away attendance recorded on the Club's database - since MOST away games allow people to pay on the gate (even those where there is an option to buy tickets through the Albion ticket office).

As Bozza can confirm, Wolves yesterday was an example.

What a sensible idea.

Why hasn't anyone thought of that?

Lord B:

Could they not keep their stubs and return them to the club for adding. Not 100% I know but anything is better than the existing fiasco.

If anyone cannot plan far enough ahead to buy their ticket in advance then they would have to accept that they forfeit their loyalty point for that game.

Regular away travellers would be able to buy their tickets in advance. If nothing else, it gives them longer in the pub.

The club could REQUEST that ALL matches are all ticket and charge the £1 or £2 booking /admin fee thus making some money out of away fixtures. Over the season it would probably pay one weeks wages for the players.

Now you really are adding to the admin costs.

After every away game, there would have to be time set aside to open letters and process ticket stubs.

All on the off-chance that there MIGHT be a "big away game" later in the season.

Imagine that we beat Spurs and drew Hartlepool in the 4th round.

Would there be as much falling out?

For someone who (I thought) wanted to dismantle the obstacles that stand in the way of supporting the Albion, you don't half come out with some nonsense, Grandad.

Course there bloody wouldn't!

All these big game charlies wouldn't get out of their armchair for that one.

But there would still be the same old faces that you see at every away game.

But that would mean getting back [drunk] from Hartlepool [very] late at night on my birthday and I can't see my girlfriend being too happy with that.

Come on Spurs!

There will be plenty of opportunity for these fans to buy tickets.

There would only be 500 or so away season ticket holders/people with enough loyalty points/whatever anyway so there would still be opportunity for anyone to get the rest of these tickets.

There are also games (home and away) every week that don't sell out that "other fans" can go to!

Then why didn't we sell out the Forest Green Rovers LDV Trophy game last season?

the opportunity was there for these people to come and watch the Albion but no they can't be bothered.

but when it comes to Tottenham Hotspur..........................

Who is talking nonsense try looking in a mirror when you discus anything other than planning which I will concede you do know about.

All you ever want to do is say things that will not upset the board and contradict anybody who has a suggestion to improve the supporters lot.

BHA do not give a toss about supporters in general only the chosen few. I know that this accusation could be levelled at most clubs.
