A massive thumbs up to this.

And a very special mention, for the stunning Japanese girl, at one recent game, wearing ONLY a Mitoma Albion shirt, as a minidress.
Herr Tubthumper undoes an extra button on his shirt and awkwardly adjusts his position in his chair.

There have been away fans in every match against a 'big' club. I had two Manure fans next to me when we walloped them. Sat silently in their seats every time we scored. The couple of Chelski fans in our stand were removed this time. I don't know why people bother, because I can think of nothing worse than sitting in a home stand and having to sit there in silence. The combination of away fans in the home ends and football tourists is the reason atmospheres suffer at grounds. Ironically, the 'big' clubs are worst for football tourism.
Yes, but..................

I went in the Spurs end for our game there in April with my son, the massive end behind the goal.

Had no chance of getting tickets in the away end, and it was an absolute pleasure watching that controlled performance. Sure, I couldn't go mental when Trossard scored, but to see us play like that away from home live, was worth sitting in silence

do think it's a mixture. As I said I know of an Albion STH who is first and foremost a Chelsea fan. I can't believe I know the only Amex STH for whom Brighton isn't his first club.
Very good point.

Now my old Dad, long gone, supported Chelsea all his life till he moved to Brighton and became an STH at Brighton. Why? For the love of the game rather than love of club and it was easier to get to the Goldstone rather than the Bridge for his weekly fix - If he’d been at that match on Saturday he wouldn’t necessarily have been cheering on Brighton or Chelsea (because he supported both) but he still would have been jumping up and down with animated shouts, clapping at the football, booing the ref, mocking/getting angry at careless play, dives, timewasting etc etc whichever side it was related to because he loved watching football.

These rows of Chelsea supporters sat in front of me Saturday with their arms folded in complete silence with sullen expressions clearly not appreciating the football Brighton were playing for its own sake - well OK but they didn’t even cheer their own goal (and I don’t mean the ones at the back of their own net!).

Go and sit with your own fans and be depressed- don’t p*ss on my fireworks.

Still in Brighton
In the early seasons at the Amex when I had (money) two seats both in my name... I took different gf's son's to watch Liverpool and Chelsea. Local lads who "chose a team" as kids when we were shit but still enjoyed watching the Albion, more so now we were top division. No biggie. It was my ticket I can bring who the feck i like. Took loads of family, friends and work colleagues, loved it, everyone had a great time and the Albion won new fans. Only rule was no celebrating away goals.

I was very disappointed to see so many chelsea fans being able to get tickets in the home stands. Especially with all that is happening with our travelling fans. It would seem that these away fans have been borrowing friend’s tickets. Loads in the northstand. Even 1 elderly chap blatantly wearing a chelsea fashion top.
Seriously? How did he get in past Stewards? Approaching the ground it's all a sea of blue and hard to tell who is wh,o but come on surely a Steward at some point noticed this? I hope he was thrown out. Its against ground regulations.

I think what irks me a bit is the things away fans have been told about the club charter which (rightfully) states that Brighton fans can be banned for 10 home games for passing on away tickets, and have been punished. The club charter also states any supporter found passing on tickets to away fans at home games is banned for 5, however this seems to rarely been acted upon. Rapper Arrdee was proudly boasting about how he got tickets in the home end at the back of the north despite being a Chelsea fan, strangely the club don’t seem bothered about it. Strange that Arrdee has made his entire personality about being from Brighton, but supports Chelsea.

Not that either issue bothers me massively, but I don’t understand why punishments are handed out to the BHAFC away supporters so strictly, but they show a blind eye to home fans passing on tickets all the time. For the first part of this season I had a spurs fan next to me for the spurs game, and in the same seat top 6 supporters every game for whatever team is playing (Liverpool, United, City) last season. I don’t want that, I want to be around Brighton supporters.
Maybe this is finally the big fish Barbs has been waiting for.

I expressed my concern to Mr Barber after a dozen or so Spurs fans celebrated their goal and weren’t escorted out of the prawn sandwich lounge. There were around ten Chelsea fans within throwing distance of my seat on Saturday. Not that they got a chance to celebrate - their Simon Jordan fake tan gave it away.

After a few emails back and forth, Mr Barber replied “football is about scoring goals and celebrating them.” Life hasn’t been the same after being let into this secret and would like to personally thank Paul for sharing such knowledge.

It really is playing with fire and will end horribly under the wrong circumstances.

We've all done it ourselves at away games at some point probably, so what's the fuss. It's not the 70s anymore guys!
I can guarantee someone will come up with “we’ve all done it” every time this subject comes up. I have never been in a home end at an away ground, I just wouldn’t be comfortable with it.
I’ve been to many away grounds in all divisions, part of the enjoyment is being with fellow Albion fans and having a good sing.

I suppose PB wanted to fill the stadium and had to make a choice between the vicious hooligan Dick Knight and those ten Chelsea fans.

There are enough stewards around , so why not point them out, or if blatantly obvious, why are they doing nothing about it.
They are keen enough to take a flask off you though

I guess it depends on what people see the issue as. I could not go but could not sell my seat so the argument that it denies seats to fans is not true. Are they causing trouble, i don't think so but there are the odd dickheads. There is the potential for trouble but that is the same as there is outside the ground. It's annoying especially if we were loosing but is it any more annoying than seeing 3k away fans cheering en masse. If the rule says they are not allowed then that's another matter. But to be fair is anyone surprised that a cosmopolitan city like Brighton which has for many years had a lower league team also has a lot of people who aren't supporters of the Albion or who see Brighton as their second team.

Was a Brighton fan (allegedly!) Shouting abuse at a number of regular season ticket holders in the front centre of the East Upper accusing them of being Chelsea fans! All people who are there week in week out yet he decided they must be Chelsea. After that he spent most of the match on his phone. Stewards even came down but he carried on shouting at people. Strange bloke.

When my other half discovered he had shingles at Saturday lunchtime, we put both of our tickets on the ticket exchange around 1.30. They were both sold before kick off.
There must be people with Albion membership, who are on the lookout for tickets on the exchange for sellout games. I really hope they weren't Chelsea fans.
I usually buy my tickets on the exchange. If I hadn't bought tickets for Forrest (on the exchange) as I thought we'd have no chance for Chelsea, your last min tickets are the type of ones I buy. Moral of the story.... always put your tickets on the exchange, if it opens you may have some very happy buyers. Don't assume they're oppo fans. :)

Likewise with me and covid. Still, if Chelsea fans bought my tickets, they'd have had a great view of their team's demolition 😀

Im amazed the atmosphere was so good considering half the crowd seems to have been Chelsea judging from everyone on here stating they had Chelsea fans near them. Judging by the crowd reactions on telly (I couldn't make it) there didn't seem to be too many Chelsea fans in the home ends!!
