Some plastic scouse fan on 606 having a right old moan about not being let in the home end the other night with his mate and son who was wearing a liverpool shirt. OK he was 11 but rules are rules - he talked about stewards showing common sense, but where was his common sense in not thinking maybe not a good idea to rock up with him openly wearing his Liverpool shirt!?
Exactly!

That's the call I just heard.

Well done to our stewards.

Interesting call to 606 on Radio 5 just now.

Liverpool fan with an Albion ST. Takes his mate and the mates young son, both Liverpool fans, to the game on Wednesday for the lads birthday.

Gets refused entry as the kid has a Liverpool shirt on. He then asks if they can be put in the away end :ffsparr:

They have to go home as still refused entry by our head steward as well.
Sad for the kid, admittedly, but them's the rules. Perhaps the adults can learn the rules before going to another game. Or follow Rugby instead.
No sympathy…Worthing isn’t that far and they missed the train queue after

Has Barber toughened up on this?

We’ve seen Arse tops barely hidden and the ManC game theirs amongst Albion. With those, the police/stewards seemed laser focused on finding any Albion fans showing belligerence. The early Chelsea PL visits saw their kids in stands, not hiding it at all.

I've no idea. Bad fan alert, I haven't been to a home game since Covid. Only go to away games that go to purchase history at the moment.

I'd hope the club do move to stamp out the piss taking. I've no real problem with away fans sitting in the home end, if they sit on their hands and play the game. I suspect every seasoned football fan knows this, but it's likely some of the JCL's and tourists that don't know the rules (as plain common sense as they are!). Being refused entry, quite rightly, will soon learn 'em.

Lots of LFC in the NS last Wednesday, families. Nothing obvious or celebratory, but I could tell. Enabled by the Albion’s fans uptake being modest, many here lamented the midweek hassle when the tickets went on sale.

I personally know Arse, Spurs & Newcastle fans who visit the Amex once a year … but never their own home games. I assume they enter under the radar?

“Why do these rules that apply to everyone else have to apply to me too??” 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Surely the season ticket holder would have known this was a terrible idea? Or are they an imbecile as well as the mate?

I heard this on the way back and was disappointed with Sutton. I expected him to rinse the caller about wearing an away teams shirt, regardless of age into the home end. The parents/adults would be marked as away fans as well so no-one gets in. The caller said he had Brighton season ticket but supported Liverpool? WTAF?

There'll be a number of season tkt holders at all provincial clubs whose other or 1st team are one of the big guns. Surely you knew this was the case with a small % of fans at the Amex!?
Twas ever thus, plastics have always existed, just not always called plastics.

Just don't be a muppet if you do support the oppo and try to enter with your kid openly wearing the opposition kit - that's just stupidity

Plenty of Liverpool fans in the away end today, 20 or so refused entry for wearing colours. No other club has the arrogance to get In the away end, gets worse every year, to the point where I just can’t be arsed to be surrounded by top southern reds, so I won’t bother next year (I will). Train rammed back down to London because it’s full of Southern reds just makes the entire experience a waste of time, I don’t want a neutral end.

It's utterly shit isn't it. Ruined my day actually. One bloke had a bag from the Liverpool club shop stuffed full of crap. I saw about 50 half and half scarves, so either they're Scousers or just complete melts, not sure which. The atmosphere, as you said on twitter, was diabolical. Really felt like about half the away end today had no real interest in the Albion one way or the other.

I don’t nominally criticise the away atmosphere as (as much as I hate the phrase) “it is what it is”
however today was exceptionally shite.

That really is shit - how does that even happen when it's so hard to get away tickets and we never seem to have this problem at any other ground!? Frustrating that it also affected the atmosphere. I know a Forest fan who said they had the same problem when they went there, so at least it isn't just us

Yep. When we got the corner at one point where Gruder tried to encourage some noise out of us almost no one responded. Plenty with phones out earlier though.

As I said to @jackalbion on the way home I’ll only do that trip for Everton next season. Unfortunately that sets off a vicious circle where Liverpool get to dominate the atmosphere and trains even more.

1901 away tickets should be allocated to an individual fan number with the right number of points on purchase.

Are 1901 away tickets completely unregulated?

With 3,000 tickets to sell, and in our 8th season in the prem (7th with fans at games) - these things are going to go on sale to those with far less regular attendance.

My view is that perhaps it would be better to take a smaller allocation to reduce such an issue of home fans in the away end or remodel the ticketing system to ‘games attended’ and a minimum threshold of X away games before you can purchase for Anfield / Emirates etc..!

Which tier did Liverpool away go down to? This might answer your question.
