Saw a family last night 2 kids 1 in full Liverpool kit the other in full arsenal kit
Now, this is what I have been told by Mrs DWG, who saw it on Facebook, whatever that is, so I’m just reporting what I have been told. I cannot see why it would be made up though.

Apparently a local woman took her twin 8 year old boys along yesterday As a birthday treat. One is an Albion fan, the other a Liverpool fan and they had shirts showing their affiliations. The steward seemingly stopped them from going in due the Liverpool shirted one. The woman said he’d take it off and even offered to go and buy him an Albion shirt to wear. Mr Steward, he say no as he now knows that one of the party (an 8 year old lad! ) is a Liverpool fan it may not be safe for him being amongst the thugs and nutters that populate the home stands (no idea which stand they were trying to access).

The woman had taken out ticket insurance and apparently has been told that this does not cover the situation described. Seems like all three ended up in tears and the lads’ birthdays were ruined.

As I say, this is something I have heard and if true, shows the club, by virtue of one steward though presumably backed by others, in a very poor light.

Hopefully, someone on Facebook will point her in PBOBEs direction and he can take steps.

That's a great shame for the kids involved but the lady showed demonstrable naivety in allowing her kid to wear away colours. When I lived in Liverpool, both my young children proudly wore Albion kit to school, parties, different events etc. But had we played up there and I had tickets in the home end, no way on earth would I have considered going in with the stripes.

What a jobs worth…

The stewards by us did a good job. There were 2 or 3 rows of Liverpool fans by us in the seats right next to the away supporters. Just a steward and a tarpaulin away. They kept quite ( they missed the first goal) but one of them got quite carried away on the second and he was promptly asked to leave. Took some persuasion but he left with a pal. As there were quite a lot of empty seats with Liverpool I thought they might have moved him over there.

All good everyone well behaved except some old brighton fan shouting at those left behind , calling the stewards, pointing out Liverpool fans, trying to start a fight with them. The stewards ignored him the pool fans didn’t celebrate the third … or Brighton’s first.

The steward that refused to let the 8 year olds in would fit in well at Villa park

Have seen them throw out whole families re a 5 year old celebrating an away goal in home end - whilst same stewards willing to do nothing re blatant racism

All the Kick It Out stuff that EPL clubs churn out is complete waste of time if none of them employ staff with the brain cells to enact it

It's easy to assume everyone knows the rules but the massive idiocy of troublemakers aside I wouldn't be surprised if some of the away fans in the home end didn't fully realise it was segregated until they arrived. A lot of people there who seemed to be at their first ever game. Besides, surely half and half scarf sellers are missing a niche - selling to away fans in home ends is the ultimate cover...support your team while wearing a scarf that the stewards have to permit and no-one will ever guess your allegiance...

This will anger a few people here.

Lots of LFC supporting young families near us in the NS, but they kept quiet at the three goals. Cameras out photographing the scoreboard at 0-2 and 1-3.

Didn't cause any issues, harmless. The club struggled to shift the tickets to Albion supporters until they went to membership, so inevitable.

Identical to the annual visit from Arse, albeit with more Albion not bothering with a cup game.

Does it really anger a few people here ? We've all done it at some time.

I think the thing we can all agree on is that Twats are annoying in all situations, regardless of football

I thought that was what the stewards were supposed to do

Best if they learn young.

Were there any genuine scouses in attendance? 'Big 6' clubs are just full of plastic tourists. It must be a nightmare getting tickets. It does show you the commercial pull of these big named clubs. We have a small taste of it with the Japanese fans and Mitoma. When Mitoma leaves, he takes all those followers with him.
All of the away end I’d think. Plastics wouldn’t get a ticket.

I remember the days before segregation when it was totally normal to be standing in the South Stand next to an away team supporter. Yes, there was a lot of trouble in those days, and there were definitely clubs and grounds that were exceptions, but what you don't hear is that most people got on most of the time. It wouldn't work now, it's 2024 and people are incredibly sensitive about being close to someone from any kind of different tribe. Disagreeing agreeably is a vanishing art. Sorry for being a bit pretentious.

It's bad enough just between our own fans. There was an incident after the game between Albion fans - couple of lads going into one of the gents and another lad coming out. Not sure if there was a slight push or something ... but words were exchanged and the lads going into the gents were 'inviting' the other lad to return and 'have a word'. I don't understand the need for aggression myself. It's all a bit pathetic.

Reading some of these posts reinforces my belief that Fulham's old neutral section was a brilliant idea and should be brought back to every ground. Then the half and half families, tourists, neutrals, plastics and groups of mates can all sit together and not irritate the diehard, hardcore, well hard likes of some of you (and me). I used to regularly go and see Fulham with a group of Sunderland fans and it was a brilliant laugh. I only ever saw trouble once in there (Birmingham).
