I saw on teamtalk page people talking about suport and thought id back it up by finding out about what teams have the best average away attendences and i found it on the nationwide site which was pretty cool, anyway thought you would be intrested in the results.
From top average away attendence to the bottom
1st Sheff wed, 2nd q.p.r and then the famous seagulls, then 4th and so on, bristol city, chesterfield, swindon, oldham, plymouth, brentford, grimsby, blackpool, luton, bournemouth, stockport, grimsby, blackpool, luton, bournemouth, stockport, rushden, colchester, wycombe, barnsley, port vale, wrexham, hartlepool, peterboro, notts county and last is tranmere. intresting and in bits not surprising and other ones very surprised eg tranmere worse support away in div 2, also checked top 3 in div 1 and they were west ham, norwich and sunderland and bottom 3 were millwall, reading hehe scum and last is bradford, and the premiership top were liverpool, wolves (amazing) newcastle and then arsenal and the bottom group was man u (shit couldnt believe it) leeds, charlton, everton and leicester.
Hope you like my findings was found out on official nationwide site, so gotta be pretty realistic.

Surely if its is done on % of home gate ten we must be close to the best ni the country. But I suppose then its not fair onthose with a massive attendance at home but can only take x to away games.

What you mean put it in order irrespective of division what like see away averages from all leagues, it will be roughly the same from premiership then div 1 and then div 2 and this is due to the bigger stadiums and that you can take away more supporters, i was very surprised to see man u 4th worst away support in premiership then charlton although like them, and wolves 2nd best thats amazing, hope you like the stats and isnt it funny about reading oh yes such a big club arent they 2nd worst away supported club in div 1 and they been pushing for playoffs amazing if near relagation it would be hell of lot worse, interesting to see peoples opinions on this.

I suppose i was asking for too much really. But since youve gone to the effort, where would we be in the first division ?

Man Utd is the biggest shocker, it's not as if their fans have to travel, whether Utd are playing at Man City, Southampton, Portsmouth, Leicester, Fulham....

I was chatting to Lesley Callaghan - a director at Sunderland AFC - a couple of months ago and told her of our away following ... she was gobsmacked and said many 1st Div clubs don't have that level of away support ... even Sunderland only take a couple of thou' to some away matches!

In Man Utd's defence is it because when Man U are playing then the home team tries to give as many tickets to their own fans rather than away fans?

I am surprised by Man U - i thought a lot of Man U fans travel to away games - they certainly make quite a bit of noise whereas as Old Trafford they tend not to.

Utd always sell their away tickets, but the home seats are always filled for their games so their allocations is smaller than, say, Wolves, who won't sell out the home sections 'coz they ain't 'glamorous' enough.

This would make for particularly interesting reading in stadiums with infinite capacities, in the Premier League at least.

I reckon our away support is pretty good, considering the number of teams in the north, the division we're in and the fact that, judging by threads passim I think a lot of us have been pretty underwhelmed overall by this season.

not really if you assume away allocation is usually full and if Manure give the largest allocation then the figures are sskewed cos they cant go away to old trafford, also those who give smaller allocations will find their position skewed upwards as an allocation of 500 is just that even if you want to take more.

ie
Brighton v palace

Brighton take 8,000 to smellhurst.

palace take 500 to withdean

Therefor Albion away support 1600% higher than palaces.

Good innit?:lolol:
