Possible ? - but the numbers don't make sense. (Aggregates rather than averages for away games ?)

That is, like royal ali stated, the average away crowds from all supporters that were in attendance, rather than an aggregate of home many brighton fans were in attendance over the 23 away games... otherwise the figure would be implying that we take an average of 336 fans per game... This means that we're the 3rd most popular team in the division because opposing fans want to watch the team play!! :jester: Or it could be that our fans jack the attendances up?? I'm thinking it's a bit of both...

No the site is http://www.sportia.co.uk, you can have a look at home or away attendences, im pleased you all like the info i found out, is always interesting to see how we compare, i know we have brillant away support but this backs it up, even though we would be bottom in div 1 but that would change as stadiums bigger and would be able to take more people as did in palace games, ipswich, leicester etc so we cant compare ourselves to them stats but be interesting if i could find out where we were when in div 1, im going to have a search.

Royal Ali how can you say that the average attendence away is wrong as it obviousally isnt as is the same for every team, they see how many you take and then divide it by how many games had and then thats your total, stop defending, its facts you cant beat them, you have the 2nd worst away support in div 1 hehe is funny as you think your such a big club and your not, we are potentially much bigger than you, have a big away support and definately better than yours no doubt, you were pushing for playoffs to get in premiership and you still get bad away attendences that says somthing your club is playing better than your supporters are, therefore saying your support doesnt deserve a team as successful as it is, hehe, also we would have kept both sidwell and coppell if had a good stadium as they both know have more support than yourselves as both mentjoned a lot when at club, and yes at the moment Reading are bigger than Albion but not for long if we get a new stadium i promise that.

The site that Gareth is talking about gives an average Home attendance when a team (say Brighton are the visitors) are the visitors.

It does not prove that our average away attaendance is the third best in the division.

Sorry if someone has already said that

Sorry Ali, didn’t read your posts properly.

Gareth - I will spell it out for you. The average attendance shown for example for Brighton is 7,735. That does not mean that that is the average amount of supporters we take to away matches. It is the average attendance for all games where we are the visitors.

Therefore these figures do not prove that we have the third best away support in the Division nor does it prove that Reading have the second worst in Division 1.

Right im sooo sorry for putting some info on the site and letting people know, what is some of your problems, you have to make a arguement about anything, and i saw the title as away attendences average and presumed it was for all teams that go away, why get so uptight hehe, is funny, thanx for humour though royal ali and paddy b heh, also i want to find a way of working out the away attendences for teams as be interesting figure and what you say for this makes sense as a lot of teams all close to eachother, yet home attendence makes sense and i would think via away support it is very likely to be nearly correct, i would think that brighton do have 2-3rd best away support in division.

Why is it so difficult to get such simple info as how many fans actually went through the gates to the home areas, and to the visitor areas?

Some clubs report visitor numbers in their programs, some clubs don't seem to report it anywhere.

Presumably they are obliged to collect this info if only for crowd control and safety - why not put the numbers in the public domain where it could be useful to anyone concerned in knowing how many might turn up at a particular ground on a particular day, caterers, program printer/sellers, policing, stewards, etc, etc?

you have only really got to look at the away attendences at wrexham and brizzle city to see how fantastic are away support is,cos at the end of the day they were both games that didnt mean a terrific amount to us yet we took 1800 to ashton gate and 1000 to the racecourse
