Thanks for listening mate, glad you enjoyed it!!! Would love to have a listen to those mixes if you find them!

I'll register with sendspace and give it a go in the very near future.

Many moons ago, I was walking along Sydney Street in Brighton past "Jump the Gun", the mod shop with the scooter in the window. As I went by, I picked up on some wonderful Jamaican sound coming from inside. I went in and asked the man behind the counter what the music was. He said it was a tape he knocked up. He kindly lent it to me to take a copy. Here are the two 45 minute sides of his cassette.

Hi all.

Just finished a mix of early reggae (very roughly 68 - 72) originals & their DJ versions, for a good mate of mine who's not very well at the moment, so thought i'd share it on here as well!!

All strictly vinyl 45s from the collection! Let me know what you think, hopefully it meets the approval of such an esteemed group!

Cheers.

Hope this works. Treasure Isle x 3 mix-tape.

Thanks for these. Have downloaded and will give them a listen at some point.

Jack, how did you get your mix cassette onto sendspace?

I'm sure there's some of your mixes in those boxes of tapes you gave me. Only way I can think to get them uploaded though would be to record them onto cd, then rip the cd in my laptop and then upload from there. Any easier way?

Edit: I meant to quote JS's post too.

Hello FM. I've tested the links and they work fine. Have you closed the first page which is an advert?
Try the links again as the first ones didn't work. I'm sure they do now?
As for putting cassettes up, I transferred all my cassettes on to the computer in to mp3 files. You have them I believe!

Ok thanks.

I do indeed. I'd almost forgotten about that big old Archos

Struggling to work out how to play this. They open up a video which doesn't seem to be there?

Have you got VLC? If so try it on that for now.

I'll have a go converting it to mp3 and then upload again.

I don't think so. I'll wait until you upload the mp3s. Ta.

I'll have to try uploading those ogg files as mp3's tomorrow. I did download them to my phone from the links I put here and they play fine though.

Meanwhile, I'd already started on this as an mp3.

It's not reggae btw.

This one will only play as a 'video' when I downloaded to my phone using this link, which is the problem you was getting with the other two JS. I just clicked the play button on the video and it just played the music (there is no video to play anyway).

I think the problem is with me converting from cd using VLC. it seems to want to save it as .ts file all the time for some reason. I'll have another play around with it tomorrow.

Recorded it. Watching it tonight.

Just be prepared for very minimal music content. It turns out it's a strictly social commentary documentary.

Sad, funny and some very, very poignant moments. I hope the Minister for Education watched this. Great film. Whether it was just my interest in Jamaican culture, I don't know, but I found it fascinating. Some wonderful characters there. Brian deserves his own series! Blacker's dreads are something else. Not had a hair cut for forty one years!! If I had my life again, I would grow dreadlocks. I probably could still give it a go, but someone close to me has advised me to not to bother!!!

I think 'Miss Molly' did a cracking job of it. She let Blacker and his community shine through and tell their story, asking all the right questions in all the right places. I hope Blacker does finally get to go 'back a yard' and find that feeling of belonging he's clearly looking for.

And yes, Brian/Naphtali is some character alright!
