What a great result today....So a nice audio for the roots and Jah Shaka fans..A nice clear, crisp recording which tbf is rare for a Shaka live audio. Over 3 hours.

I used to work in the Concorde in the 90's. After Jah Shaka sytems set up for the night. The council had that many complaints they made us fit a noise regulator. Good night though.

haha
We, KingTafariLove, were allowed to do a dance in the basement of the Queens Hotel on the seafront.... when we turned the unit on, the manager came running down the stairs shouting at us to turn it down... ?? We hadnt even put a record on haha...

and the Abinger, for those who remember the place, first record we put on, the entire bar staff quit on the spot, and left the manager running up and down the bar, trying to serve people, whilst pushing glasses, and bottles on the shelves, back before they fell off the shelves due to the vibrations..

Top Rank told us never to bring our set there again after one night there...haha... all the lights were rattling, and the plastic balcony screen started to hum

Can remember catching the glasses myself. Have not been through the whole list yet, but can't see any Manasseh on here, got any?

Also do you have remember a reggae version of, "Its not unusual." originally Tom Jones. Might be a bit too Loves rock for you. Reminds me of meeting wife. Cheers.

Culture is a good friend of mine. Since the early 80s, when Trooper, who still plays at Volks, brought him down for one of our dances, and he came to plenty after that... Only see him now and again these days, when he is passing by this part of the world... yeah..that Shaka is nice as its crystal clear for once haha.

Yeah, I took my GF to UK last year, and took her there...was her first official reggae dance .. It was ok, but a bit too jiggy jiggy for me, im not that keen on ragga...sadly, reggae is not big here at all, so have to search for it...

Which reminds me. In the Volks they played a sort of sleng teng x Lovers rock thing. I like it. Can't find any on spotify or usual places. Mainly because I don't know what I am looking for.

Probably, a lot of grass has gone under the bridge since those days haha...and a lot of sounds came and went...and people moved between sounds etc... . we, KTL ,were the big sound in Brighton for about 20 years... started by Markus, Shorty, and myself after being constantly thrown out of the Afro club at the old concorde for smoking....so we decided..feck it..we will build a sound, and hire clubs so we cant get thrown out... our first dance was in the old Resource Center...still play once a month at the Greenhouse Effect in Hove

A website I have just finished that may be of some interest...

www.rootikal.net

Nice... i seem to have a link already, so you must have told me about it previously

Seeing that about C. Campbell...has anybody been to a concert of his recently? He's here in the not too distant future
but ive not heard his voice live for years...would hate to go and be disappointed...

Always remember Brother Culture turning up in the Concorde and Beachcomber
with a sound system that two guys ran. One being called Ben.

Little ben ..yeah i know him.

I didn't know Brother Culture well, other than he took a very occasional Guiness. Its a long time ago now but I am sure a friend of mine told me that, in his distant past Brother Culture had been shot at. Think it was him.

Nah...shot himself in the leg when fecking around with a 9mm in the States.
Considering it was only the one bullet, it made a serious mess of his leg.
He did mention somebody firing a gun next to him when he was MC'ing in JA
one year... He's still touring...Think he was in Slovakia recently.
