Aston Villa vs Brighton & Hove Albion *** Official Match Thread ***

There are some exceptional performances out there from us today.

No surprise with Lamptey, but Welbeck has been exceptional have to say. And Matty has played the best I’ve seen him in a long time. Ditto Gross who has been spot on with nearly every pass.

Real shame we couldn’t get that 2nd goal.

Bloody hell. What a half. Frenetic, seat of the pants and wildly entertaining.

If it continues in the same vein in the second half there will surely be a deluge of goals. Please, please, at the end of it all can we have scored at least one more than Villa.

This will be typical Potterball and we'll probably lose 2-1. March looks the weak link, always slowing things down and looks to have no confidence to cross or dribble into the box.
Every one of March's crosses have been excellent today.

In defence of March, he’s repeatedly receiving the ball at his feet when there’s space ahead of him it could be played into. Any player is going to have more chance of beating the last man if they’re already running when receiving the ball.

March put in at least one brilliant cross, with half a dozen sublime cross field passes to Lamptey right on the money, in attacks that tore them apart.

Kavanagh should have flagged up that elbow, deliberate and to the face. Red card.

At his feet and chest high. He is being played into trouble. It’s noticeable that he is also doing a lot of defending

Have to improve that midfield - maybe even sacrifice a striker. Not getting out quick enough and not picking up the second balls.

Wouldnt mind some sexy 3-6-1 at some point early in second half with Maupay out (or Welbeck if he cant do 90 min) and preferably Alzate in.
