this is horrendously poor selling
So much so that it would appear that the club have shut the largest of the upper blocks and judging by the amount left in the other are transferring the tickets so as to presumably release the biggest block and let Villa sell it to their fans.
To be honest i am not sure why they released so many seats in the first place as it is not their usual practice.

Why so poor? Because it's Monday night?

I would think the timing both date wise and evening kick off are playing a large part. Personally i have driven before but did not fancy that this time as i now hate driving in the dark. So i looked at the trains on a couple of sites and found i could not get back to worthing until about 5.30 the next morning so it is a no from me.
Their will certainly be other fans who will be doing things with family over this period or simply can not make ends meet over this expensive time of year.

I bought a ticket in that block but haven’t heard that my ticket is transferring 🤷‍♂️.

I was just looking at it logically because late last night we had sold about 250 seats in P9 and there were about 350 left in P10. I did not look first thing but when i looked just now P9 is blacked out and P10 has less than 100 left so that seemed a reasonable conclusion. I may be incorrect of course, but what other explanation fits the facts?

How about one of those coaches? Seagull travel... I've used them few times when not driving myself.

I’m planning to go but can’t buy until Friday when it opens up to all STH. Surely they won’t reduce capacity before it reaches all STH, Albion+ members? As for travel I’m driving up and stopping over as I really like Brum and haven’t been there for ages. The coaches are good though, and well worth checking out. Seagull Travel and Bluesaway (cheaper) do a great job. Used them both a few times.

Just checked. Bluesaway is £49 for Villa.

A Monday evening match in the Midlands is never going to sell well. Add in it's the day before New Years Eve and it's definitely not going to sell well. Hopefully our Northern based fans can get tickets as I'm not bothering. If you travel up either it's get home at 2/3am at earliest or hotel then return on NYE. The Monday and Tuesday are regular working days too for most.

Same here Driver 8 - I couldn’t actually see from the graphic but I’m in row OO which I’m hoping is near the front of the upper - I agree with other comments though - considering they are often very conservative in selling blocks an evening kick off the day before NYE is a surprising one to change the approach - hope sales pick up

Wait to see how it looks after the next two rounds of STHs and Albion+ members. I’m hopeful it will pick up a bit though I hear what everyone’s saying about the inconvenient timing. One of those benefits of retirement for me.

With all the circumstances people have mentioned it would be impressive to shift 1500 to this. There is nothing positive about it on paper………it’s a guaranteed win for the Albion!

Remember Leicester away once on a weeknight when we were expecting a loss and won 4-1 😂

Where are all the fans who say they can't get tickets to away games? i don't know how many we sold but at least 1250 tickets available and that's with two blocks closed. So probably sold a 1000?

They'll be waiting for it to go on sale to the tier levels they are in. It's only been on sale to the top two tiers so far, so those who normally miss out wouldn't have even been eligible to buy a ticket yet.

Brighton v Villa is where it all started for me in and around 1972 when we both got promoted, Villa played at the Goldstone in yellow and blue if I remember correctly. I remember the excitement of the game in 1972/3 being all ticket, just made it seem really glamorous! Both my grandfathers supported Villa (my Dad Birmingham City) and we often had 3 way discussions about the respective teams in that era and it’s how I got into football in the first place. I still have my Football Champions book from 1972 and the old Wembley game from then showing Villa and Albion in the old 3rd division.

That said, I can’t say Villa Park is my favourite ground and although I’ve been there several times it’s not one I would rush back to. I suspect they will have to think what they do with it in the future - great history and all that, but despite the various rebuilds it’s not one of the top grounds in the country any more and only has room to expand behind the North Stand which may not be enough long term.
