Moaning Fans re Sunderland

Insider

Having read all the threads (as many as there is) I would hope I speak for a majority of the fans (quite obviously not all!) that understands that if you buy a season ticket you do not pay the full value for your seat as you have made the commitment for the season therefore get a discount and as stated in the T&C's cup games are charged separately. I also understand that the Gillingham game was discounted due to lower league opposition and the need for an incentive to fill seats.
What I do not understand is the fans that can not work out that if they want to come and see us play Sunderland they have to pay the normal price for a game, (i.e.the price non season ticket holders have to pay).
Compared with paying £30 for Fratton Park on Saturday surely our prices are very competitive.
I would hope most fans can see that the club is a business and they obviouslty think the prices for tickets are right and at the end of the day everyone has the right not to buy a ticket and talk with their feet. I suspect that the crowd will be alot more then the moaners think!!

Absolutely 100% agree, the club are charging a standard first team game ticket price for a ticket for a first team game.

i really cant believe the fuss !!!! 30 quid for pompey,27 for cardiff and 30 to get in to the amex on a match to match basis.Just because the gills game was cheaper doesnt mean every carling cup game is gonna be £17.given the choice i would much rather pay £28 to watch the football we play in our fantastic new stadium against a premiership team !!!

I think a lot of people are being a bit thick about the whole subject. I know that's a strong word, but it's true. The game is against Premier League opposition, who are going to take the League Cup seriously (Sunderland want to get into Europe, the cups are the best way) and the game will be the biggest so far staged at the Amex. Which, by the way, happened to cost a lot of money and for all the wealth of Tony Bloom, he's going to want to set the club up to make a big return and by charging these prices, they will make a good amount of money from the gate receipts. It's not just up to our club, by the way, to set a pricing structure. Sunderland will have had a say aswell. Maybe they had no interest in the game being billed as being a cut price cup match for us, why should they? The reality is we'll probably sell 20,000 tickets for the match, there are plenty of people who will want to see Sunderland, who will want to see a night game at the Amex and who will appreciate how hard it will be to get a ticket for a league game. Do I want to pay £30 for a Carling Cup match? No. I'm a tight bastard. But I will, and hopefully I'll have female company with me because it will be one of the rare games I might get to see with her. Expensive yes, but you have the choice. If you don't think the deal is right for you, then don't go. Don't moan at the club if you can't, or won't, afford to go, it's not their fault.

very well said. and happy birthday! have some rep

Good post. I can't afford it but I don't blame the club. I blame the amount of pies and beer I've drunk since it's been open which has left me skint until the end of the month (I have a budget for the next two league matches).
