Serves him right for being a lazy student.

I reckon Ash is probably a really nice fella in real life who just makes the odd mistake like we all do... But still if you lot want to pretend you know him well enough to judge I won't stop you

PS - In all seriousness, what did Ashley Cole do wrong originally to be so hated? I can understand Gooners hating him cos he left them but what else did he do to start off this hate? I reiterate this is a serious question to people...?

It seems to stem mainly from the publishing of his autobiography, when his agent was negotiating his new contract with Arsenal and he "nearly crashed his car in shock when he heard they were ONLY offering him 55,000 a week..."

Came across as a bit of an arsehole there, didn't he.

A great footballer and one of the best Left backs in the world but can come across as a twat, like the person above me posted about the Autobiography, and cheating on Cheryl and now bringing in an air rifle.

Have we ever been treated to one of Cole's redeeming features (if he has any)?

Whilst it is not my place to demand someone on such an obscene wage should make a big song and dance about donating to charity or setting up a foundation and so on... The only recollection of charity and Cole is when he was arrested for being drunk and disoderly after a Chelsea charitable event (presumably compulsary with a free bar).

He comes across as being a spoilt little rat man. His actions and past history would suggest he is not a nice fella, but kudos to Sheebo for giving him the benefit of the doubt.

Presumably Chelsea will be willing to back him as shooting someone is not going to effect his performance, whereas Mutu and his drug issue would/did. I am certain Chelsea would be well within their rights to sack him and sue him, assuming the student in question wanted to press charges.

Surely shooting someone with an air rifle, accidentally or not, is a criminal offence? So why has he not been arrested on suspicion of this? If he isn't, does that mean it's OK to go around shooting people with such weapons?

He may be yet :
BBC News - Ashley Cole Chelsea shooting investigated by police

Just done some checking and "Carrying a loaded Air-weapon in a public place 6 months imprisonment and / or £5,000 fine."

Given that he says he didn't know it was loaded, it must have been loaded when he took it from where he kept it to the training ground. If, as I suspect, the offence is one of "strict liability" (ie if it happened, you are guilty) then there would seem to be enough grounds to charge him.
