Fair do's. I would be full of praise for him IF I hadn't seen him do the old cupping the ear trick when he scored his first tap in.
Really Ashley? You don't think you may have deserved a bit of stick recently?

He often does that celebration, given stick or not

Great performance today. Well done Ash.

He played very well.... one glaring missed opportunity but essentially it didn't feel any different than when Ulloa is there.....credit where credit is due, more games like that from him and maybe I will adjust my historical view of him..... now heading to the Railway Bell for a well earned beer or two.

Fair play Somerset, enjoy your beers mate!

The chap in front of me did the usual non-celebration when Barnes scored his goals. Other than doing the wanker motion. Then stormed off when Barnes was named man of the match! :lolol:

Ash had a great game today walked away from several late tackles and not a word of dissent makes a goal and scores two great way to answer your critics

Good for him, but the real test comes when the dust has settled and he's shown he can keep it up. I genuinely hope he's changed his ways for good.

Perfect game today, did well when under almighty pressure

I take the bit about the celebration back. Just seen the goals on SSN, no idea what the celebrations were but they looked like the ear cup to me at the time.

To me it looked like it was aimed at his kid/misses up in the boxes, sort of mimicking crying.

Think Ash plays far better as a striker than in the left wing role he has often been used in. Hopefully with Orlandi and Lua Lua we have seen the end of him starting wide and he will be used in his best position of striker. Great performance today.

Horrendously poor opposition, but he was great. Some good link-up play and charged into the right places to score. Chuffed for his brace as proof of his worth and efficacy to those without patience or flexibility. Excellent performance.

Pffft, he's nothing special. Struts around the pitch thinking he's better than everyone else, selfishly scoring goals for fun.

And Ashley is a girl's name anyway. Who does he think he is, why I oughtta...
have sex with him?

Precisely right. I am a Barnes fan, even when he plays wide, but undoubtedly his best position is down the middle. He was very silly to get sent off at Bolton, hopefully he's learnt his lesson.

Lead the line brilliantly today.

The team is in a really good place at the moment, we have a dead cert winning formation with at least 2 players for each position.

This, played in his best position today and scored 2 goals as well, mind you that still won't be good enough for some

If he'd scored all six today certain people would still slag him off.

I take it you were not at the game

Maybe he was.

Goal 1: barnes to buckley

Goal 2: orlandi to hammond to upson

Goal 3: orlandi to lopez to orlandi

Goal 4: barnes to buckley to lopez

Goal 5: lualua to barnes

Goal 6: orlandi to barnes

Some will argue the pass to Buckley for the first was so far away from goal, it's more of a technical assist. And for the fourth goal, it was Buckley who played it to David Lopez.

For me, The first goal came because Buckley got it in space, and it was Barnes' vision and reaction that made it, so he gets the assist there. For the fourth, again his awareness of where his team mates are, and his not being selfish, led to a goal. He should get some credit, but it was Buckley that set up David Lopez.

He usually kisses the inside of his arm where he has a tattoo of a footprint from his baby. His hand is therefore back towards his head, not his ear.
