With some new signings apparently 'imminent' including a possible new strike partner for CMS is next season going to be a season to far for Ash?

Or will he retain his 'first name on the teamsheet' status?

Discuss.

To be fair I like Barnes although for some reason people tend not to like him. Not sure why. Unless It's just me?

Gripper Stebson, after all these years, you're still the bully you once were in the playground at Grange Hill. Just give the fella a break will you.

I know it's pretty boring at the moment but do we really need another NSC deconstruction of Ashley Barnes? Isn't 35 of them enough?

He is your most clinical striker and should be the focal point of your team. In reality, if you're looking to challenge towards the top 6 you'll need to be looking for someone to play up top alongside him, with CMS making way on the bench. I can honestly see his best role being an impact sub as other than pace, he doesn't really have the game to fire you towards the top of the table. Barnes however has shown he is a good finisher, and at his age I can see him getting better this season.

Ashley Barnes is developing into a quality forward. Scored 14 goals last season despite playing most it out of position. 20 the season before, what does this lad have to do to get a break with some people on here? Gus believes in him otherwise he wouldn't get game time. That is good enough for me.

Ashley Barnes is our best striker. If anyone needs to be worried it should be CMS.

Very much this.

Haven't seen an AB thread in a while. Gus loves players that carry out his direct instructions and AB is number one at doing this. Expect him still to be first name on the team sheet. If he still taking penalties this season can see him getting 20+ goals.

How many of those were penalties?
