I didn't expect the win tonight but I had a feeling Barnes would score. I think the big-money signings competing for places are going to really spur him on this season - he's a difficult player to leave out. I won't be surprised to see 15 goals from him in the league this year.

He's the sort of player that can look kak for 89 minutes then scores a beauty - priceless in my view. Having said that i think he's played well so far this season - 3 in 4 pretty bloody excellent.

Barness. He is inconsistant, has a poor first touch and misses too many chances. FACT. However he is 21 years of age and is a massive prospect and could be a Premiership striker one day, highlighted by the fact he has just banged in TWO goals at Cardiff. He will learn and his best years are still far away however the goals he has scored tonight and his age suggests he may be a bit special. His touch and chance conversion will get better in time and there is no doubt he is a talented footballer.

People have to admit he does have his weaknesses and personally I don't think he's ready to start but oh my we have a player on our hands!

the guy puts in 20 goals in league one, has a good start to this season in the championship yet he's not ready to start? fair enough each to their own if you don't rate him, he has got his weaknesses but name a past striker we've had thats 21 years of age and even got close to doing things like that... joe gatting, jonny dixon, jake robinson, chris wood..... That's one thing i love about Gus, he picks players on form and how they train and isn't afraid to stick with the underdog when they're performing ( prediction - lewis dunk to keep the shirt off el abd for a while..)

quite agree with barney, i think CMS has helped him realise he has to put a a bit of work rate too! and this paid off today.

This 21 year old is only going to get better and better as he learns his craft. A real talent we should appreciate this young man a bit more.

only scored 2 less goals than murray last season in fewer games, AND he's younger

he's a weird one for me, every now and again he'll miss an absolute SITTER, but then next game he'll easily net a yeboah.....if him and hoskins can get, say 10-15 goals each this season, coupled with CMS' workrate and goals, PLUS goals from midfield i think the amex could be renamed GOAL CITY

Have to admit he can be a bit all arms and legs but i think he is developing his positional play and timing his runs and has a cracking shot on him, reminds me a touch of this man to be honest.

We need to extend his contract as i think his contract up at end of this season, we gotta get him on a 5 year deal as well as Bridcutt, Dunk etc

Indeed. He has a lot of goals in him, and is on the last year of his contract. Give him a few more years asap.
