Another goal in a win for Ashley. Good PL player, respect.
The fact this thread keeps getting bounced just endorses what a complete **** up the club made with Barnes.
He clearly wasn't worth a 2-year deal, 5-6 years ago
He was offered a renewal, but didn't sign it. Three months later Burnley offered him a better one.

I thought we offered him another year, not longer
He is on record as saying he didn’t feel wanted
This obsession is weird.
Players move on and some find a home Burnley turned out to be his. When we lose and Barnes scores this thread is a guaranteed bump I just don’t get the point of it.Not really Weird Justice, a lot of us fans appreciated what Ashley offered and his all round effort for the team excepting a couple of indiscretions (kicking the ref etc) after all we had been watching him from age 18/19, I believe he had a lot more to offer us but sadly it turned out differently. Oh well!

Our result has nothing to do with it. Just a coincidence this weekend. It's simply about a man being written off as not good enough for us at league one, firing his premier league side into the top 6.
So what? We turned down Ian Wright once upon a time.

Ian Wright retired in 2001. Can't speak for everyone else, but I wasn't on NSC pre-2001, so prior to that so couldn't have posted about his goals.
After we turned him down, Ian Wright returned to amateur and part time football to continue his development, went to prison for a couple of weeks, then gained renewed focus. (thank you, wikipedia!). The Ian Wright we trialled went through a change in attitude and application and then went on to be a success.
We didn't turn down Ashley Barnes. We signed him in 2010. While he was with us some of the fans wrote him off as not good enough for league one, then we let him go to a rival where he was a success winning promotion to the premier league before we did, and then make a success of his time in the premier league.
Ian Wright was never one of ours, Ashley Barnes was.
