Ashley Barnes isn't nearly good enough for us.

These aren't the players you're looking for.

That is a big leap from “not good enough” for a League One Team. He would improve us, can there really still be an argument to say he wouldn’t?

Probably not. But he is the ultimate marmite player, probably more suited to eighties football.

I guess it just depends if you like your football on the crazy gang Wimbledon end of the scale more than the tiki-taka Barcelona.

As good a place as any to put this quote from the BBC premier league match day thread:

"Glenn Murray, who in a parallel world should be starting up front for England alongside Ashley Barnes, fizzes a 20-yard drive just over the top. Decent effort."

That's our old league one strike force. Incredible.

Shame that one, yes just one of them can’t admit that they look like complete mugs now and they were very very wrong [emoji2]
I doubt they'll give a shit what people think anyhow. Same as if he didn't cut it in the prem. Would you care? I doubt it.

Odd that the MOTD pundits should have one opinion on the player and the Amex-era boo-boys should have a completely different opinion. What gives?

What do the likes of Keown know about the game anyway?

I'd rather listen to the expertise of a NSC/Amex hater, any day of the week.

If he was playing in the Championship his level would be League 1.

If he was playing in the Conference his level would be Sunday pub league.

We all should know by now that Ashley Barnes doesn't have 'a level'.

I've seen him do things that would make Benny Hill proud, but I've also seen him do things that would make Didier Drogba proud.

He's been absolutely brilliant this season though.

His Albion haters have been lying low for quite a while.

In all the excitement of the ensuing 120 pages it’s easy to forget the genius of the oringinal 2011 post by mr Burns ...

“The boy is just too lightweight for pro football, and all the time he has a hole in his arse he wont make it. He'll find his level in the conference within a couple of years.
“You can get away with being and playing like a tart in some positions, but not as a striker”
