Barnes will be top scorer this season. Make of that what you will.

He could very well be , but as it stands at the moment it wont take too many to hold that title. As with all positions when we get a striker who will score the amount of goals we need then both Barnes & CMS will benefit from that. At the moment they are the best we have got & so when the goals dont go in then they will take the flak. They both have faults in their game but if & when we get a a 20plus goal scorer they amount of goals they bring to the table will be excellent.

I would personally of made Bridcutt MOM . Orlandi would run a close second. I think he is a fantastic signing

Barnes had a poor game yesterday but gave his all, despite some people booing him even before the game started. That was in the Family Stand.

Maybe he isn't our most naturally gifted player, but you can rarely fault him for effort, and abuse from the stands is hardly going to make him better.

Why are some people so keen to boo our own players, and to teach their kids to do the same? It wouldn't be so bad if they got behind the team during good spells. But they don't. Why the constant barracking and negativity?

Teachers pet? Always picked? hardly a sub? blue eye boy? If he was rotated for Hoskins or.more importantly Dobbie then he wouldn't get so much abuse. Even if Barnes is having a shocker he'll still be in the 11 next week whereas if it was anyone else like sparrow like last season then you're on the transfere list.

So it's OK to boo a player because he has the temerity to be picked by the manager? Right. Easy solution - he should demand to be on the bench on Tuesday.

For what it's worth I reckon he will be dropped for Tuesday, and even as a Barnes supporter I think we need to try something else. But booing our own players when they're giving their all is a pitiful way to show support.

Barnes had great partnership with Murray but that was league one! Was our top scorer last season! The prob is we need an out and out goal scorer which we haven't got in any of our forwards, smithys class but only when he has one of them games, so think we need to lay of Barnes a bit and hope mr bloom digs deep in January.....

But what if it makes you feel bigger and better?

I never boo anyone. When the team is announced and hear no 9 ...... I say under my breath ,ffs, Id never boo any player but wouldn't moan at anyone who did as they pay their entrance money so are entitled to voice their anger etc.

Watching Barnes yesterday was painful at times, and using the excuse 'you can't fault his effort' just doesn't cut it anymore, we're not the club we used to be whereby we didn't have any better alternatives. Lua Lua, Dobbie and even Hoskins now must be wondering what they have to do to get picked ahead of him. Because despite his quite consistently average or worse performances, you can guarentee Gus will pick him again next week.

Time for a break from the first team, a substantial one at that.

I have been consistently stating on here that he is not good enough since midway through last season.... I am now giving you lot the old 'I told you so' .... I don't enjoy it... Gus needs to get a grip.

Careful. Views like that will upset people, and you are likely to end up with a warning for posting your views from the law on here.

Sorry to keep posting this but Barnes' place on the pitch is defined by other people to a degree. If Bridge plays, Barnes will likely be replaced by Dobbie (its only circumstance that prevented that so far); if Painter plays Barnes will play because otherwise the left side will be more vulnerable.

I like and rate Barnes but he is out of form at the moment and as such could do with a break. The problem is that Painter and Dobbie is not a safe option and nomatter how poor Barnes' finishing is, he always contributes defensively every game.

Don't come on here talking sense! Everyone knows that we need to play Kuszscak and 10 out and out strikers every game. It's only Gus that can't see it with his negative tippy tappy football that hasn't win us a league title for 18 months now. Useless.

Very poor indeed. It's all very well the radio saying he was MOTM tonight, but the stats tell me that his goal ratio this season is 1 every 6 games. If we harbour realistic play off hopes then a new striker is required.

but he gets played as a deep lying midfielder and goes wide as well. it doesnt work like that mate - Rooneys scored 3 goals this season - shit huh?

No, I carefully consider his all round contribution, he is still bloody crap whichever way you look at it.

I'm not a idiot and haven't judged him on a penalty miss the follow up to it sums him up though. He really is not good enough for a team with ambitions to go up. People keep harking on about being played out wide blah blah, the chances he had, were directly in front of goal so that completely negates that argument.

No...I am going to judge him on the following.
1) Poor first touch....no close control...regularly loses the ball when it is played to him.
2) Poor passer of the ball. Specialises in under-hitting/over-hitting passes or simply passing straight to the opposition.
3) Can't head the ball. Misses straightforward opportunities. Can't win the ball in any ariel challenge.
4) Bottles out of tackles. Pulls out at the last minute. Dislikes physical contact.
5) Suspect temperament. Regularly sees red and goes looking for retribution. Right up there with worst disciplinary record in the club.
6) Lacks confidence. Finds successsful penalty taking method, then ditches it and now has no idea where he is putting it.
7) Lacks coolness in finishing. Snatches at chances. Misses plenty of sitters.
8) Australian.

The best way of restoring Barnes' confidence would be to give him a prolonged spell in the development squad, where he might be one of the better players on show and look a threat.

Yes Barnes had an off game Saturday, many people just dont spot what he does for the team though, yes he didnt do much Saturday but is a very valuable member to have in the squad. He is young, enthusiastic and is played out of posistion the majority of the time. He needs a break from all the abuse he gets on here, especially after one poor game.

I had the pleasure of listening to the chap behind me on Saturday constantly banging on about why Dobbie hadnt started and he would make everything right, as mentioned Dobbie is not an out and out striker so is not the direct answer however will become increasingly valuable as the season goes on.
