I don't normally get upset or annoyed when my teams don't do well. But losing to Australia like this feels humiliating.

Being humbled down under is no stranger for England but the manner of this feels so different, this guy has 6 wickets for 8 runs in his first test, he’s not even bowled well.

If silverwood doesn’t resign after this he has no honour, the last year this England test cricket side have been a disgrace.

If we can set them 150+ I still think we can do this.

The mad thing, is that only an hour ago, when Stokes had just hit a couple of fours down the ground, I did fleetingly have such thoughts...

Time to fly the team home and forfeit the last two tests.

Sack em all and start again.

I get sick of the pre-match interviews promising improvement, 50s being turned into 100s, all the right words and then followed by this bollocks. Don’t talk, just show us on the frigging pitch!

Just put £400 on Australia to win ... to win 4p ... Hoping there isn't a swarm of locusts

Can’t wait to see how Joe Root pins this one on the bowlers

Absolutely pathetic, heads should roll, Giles and Silverwood first. Still nothing will change.

Australia before this series hadn’t played a test match in nearly a year, A YEAR. A year in which England played nearly 15 tests.

There is no excuses for this, I’m kind of glad England lost in this manner because if this doesn’t make heads be chopped nothing will.

Good to see Extras chipping in as joint 4th highest scorer with 5.

It's a good job England had that post mortem after the last test, the one where they told home truths about their performance. If they hadn't had that, they might have got thrashed in this match.

Socially distanced lap of honour from the Aussie stars.

He has. And the hour last night was deemed as the best session of fast bowling by a team since analysis began in 2006.

But my sadness goes beyond this rout. The longer format is on life support. The Championship moved to the colder months and now even a ridiculous 100 ball game.

So this is a symbolism of it all really. It hurts because cricket is a game I've loved for forty years. I don't recognise it now.
