Came home from work to find my very full garden waste bin, emptied fortnightly for the past 7 years, had a card sitting on it from the contractor with a ‘X’ next to “you are not of the list for garden waste collection”.😳

Phoned up the waste people, spent 20 mins going round in circles with a call centre girl who was very sweet but utterly inept and spoke in pro-forma sentences. After 15 minutes of repeatedly trying, turned out automated paying system was down. Gardeners come tomorrow, no where for them to bin garden waste so they’ll charge me £££ to take away anything they prune.

Oh, and if it counts please (because this is election week)

Monday - Unable to keep hospital appointment - hospital patient booking phone line for transport down for 4 days - took an hour to get through to hospital to reschedule.

Monday - Tuesday evening - very blocked toilet (fortunately I have more than one) - had to fork out ££££ for an emergency Plumber who arrived while I was in the middle of a phone call with a mate booking tickets for Brentford. Had to abort phone call. Phoned back later, seats we wanted no longer available. Bought others instead.

Tuesday got screamed aggressively at by a drunk schizo in the supermarket queue because, well, just because.

Wednesday - woke up to find yellow, evil spawn was the leader of the free world.
That is not strictly true though, is it?

He's orange! ???

...what with the utter clusterfuck playing out across the pond.

I stopped at a Tesco Express to buy a few groceries, and decided to lift the family gloom with some jam doughnuts.

"Soft and juicy" it said on the pack and I could not wait to get home and sink my teeth into one.

Imagine my utter dismay opening the pack and finding they were boring old ring doughnuts.

Has anyone else suffered a similar calamity today?
Yes found out they horrible custard ones

Good! Need I remind you that you're on a bloody diet!

I had my porridge for breakfast and a single banana for lunch. I stopped at Tesco for fuel, and popped in. I was starving, so I bought a pack of cooked chicken slices and that's it. Stay away from those doughnuts, you doughnut!

Immediately thought of the God of ‘Lose 7lbs in November’ who sees all.

Who is the all seeing god? Does that refer to the collective?

If you have got more than one toilet why did you call an emergency plumber?
Emergency plumbers obviously charge high call out fees.

Yes they use the same red packaging for both sometimes , the swear box doe`s extremely well on such occasions .
As for calamities , because of my diet , today i had to turn down FUDGE ( oh the pain) .

I’ve just gone to the freezer and to my horror the fish fingers I was going to have for my supper are not Birds Eye. 😩
When this tragedy occurs use copious amounts of garlic mayo , and if used in a sandwich a thin coating of English mustard as well ( don`t knock it till you try it) .

I'm at work and look what I've got.
You may notice a carrot is missing.
That doughnut identified as a carrot so it qualified as one of my five a day.
It was a tasty and naughty carrot.

I got up, saw the result, spent an hour on here reading the US election thread and got seriously depressed.

I then decided to do my accounts from April and am now up to August. Sadly, I think I've probably had the best result of anybody on NSC today

Woke up at 6am in the middle of a nightmare - Donald Trump had won the US election. Did that thing where realisation washes over you that it was just a dream and everything was going to be alright. Then I opened my phone 😞

National rails points decided today they just weren't going to work between Angmering and god knows where. I guess in sympathy with the US. So yes, faced with the disastrous news on waking, I then got entangled in 35 min delays this morning, and about 25 min delays this evening...

One ray of light was the people who play the piano in Brighton Station...just to hear it over the durge of humanity probably kept me sane for just a few minutes...

I was gazing into the middle distance earlier today, then realized something nearer to hand had caught my attention.

Just got back from a day trip to Hastings, visiting family.
Left Ruislip at 6am this morning and completed the journey in under 2 hrs.
Left Hastings at 3.30pm, where it took just under 4hrs 😡

Stuck in a traffic jam wasting half an hour working and literally at a complete standstill yet nothing ahead to cause traffic to stop? No road works no traffic accident it just stopped for some reason and then back to 70mph
See post #38 😞

I only wanted one roll for lunch, went to the bakers and they only had a 6 pack. Took them home, 5 in freezer and opened the other. It was soggy in the middle. Opened up 3 more and all under cooked. Threw then all away. Wtf!
