Germany seem to pick and choose as well.
But it doesn't make it right, then again we have got a foreign manager.

Germany pick and choose?

Podolski and Klose have lived there pretty much all their lives, Ozil and that other chap that joined Real Madrid are both German by birth, as are the Boatengs. Except the Pikey chav one chose to play for Ghana.

Was watching Aaron Hunt play the other night....could it be the next Owen Hargreaves? - No....the krauts have already capped him.

how is he eligable? i thought residency was 10 years, and surely he hasnt been here that long? or the residency rules have been relaxed?

either way, i have no objections in principle to foreigners who deem themselves English and lived here long enough to qualify. however, if you play for another nation at any level i think that should tie you to that nation for that sport. he's played Spain U21, so no he shouldnt play for England.

Why not? France have been doing it for years.

Quite, England should have been thinking ahead a bit more when they were bent on World Domination and took Crown Rule for better sporting nations.

Germany seem to pick and choose as well.
But it doesn't make it right, then again we have got a foreign manager.

To be fair to the German's, they don't cap players that moved in their adult years do they? Like Eduardo and Senna did?

Happy to stand corrected and would be interested to know what big players had no connection to their countries until they took citizenship and became eligible. Can't be arsed to do the research though.

also, by that right, how comes Belgium aren't a world force? Don't they always get players on loan due to the 3 years it takes to get citizenship? If so, why aren't they capping some players?

5 years I think.

used to be that way, but no the U21 caps don't matter.

Can't be done I'm sorry to report. The 'home' nations all agreed that a player must have a blood relation in order to represent one of their countries. This is why Nacho Novo has never played for Scotland (despite living there since he was a teenager).

Yet they are more than happy to have a foreign manager. What utter twaddle.

worth a crack - it's a radical change that is definitely needed.

Couldn't take it seriously personally, although he's probably got more claim to being English than that South African wanker Kevin Pietersen.

:)
